People seem to assume some kind of pity or sympathy for crooks who suddenly or mysteriously fall ill or even die when investigations or trials are going on about their sickening misdeeds.

The same people heartlessly and with no sympathy at all, overlook and ignore the fact that the monies that such incompetent criminals stole, mismanaged or misapplied, could have been better put to their intended or other proper uses which could have eased the silent suffering and deaths of thousands of many Ghanaians.

This country has not developed in the way we have all expected it to because of the diabolical levels of corruption which state institutions such as the GRA, the Accountant Generals Dept, the Audit Services, the judiciary and even the Lands Commission have allowed to freely pass under their equally corrupt noses.

If the govt would contract the services of international auditing companies such as De Loitte and Peat Marwick and direct them to places such as East Legon, the Airport Residential areas, Cantonments, Achimota and even the Aburi mountains for only six months to audit property owners, the govt can recoup more money for bigger development projects than the returns of cocoa and gold can make in ten years.
