Doctor, nurses, engineers, etc are all making impact. Your stupid thinking of entitlement don't make sense. Those teachers paying the 30 GHS, will they rent their own houses for 30 GHS per month? Why do we always want to defend every wrong thing? If they don't want to pay 10% from their salaries as rent, then let them vacate those bungalows/apartments and go to where they can get a bungalow/apartment to rent for 30 GHS.

Do we know that the Teachers who stay on Campus don’t end their work at the end of the class? Those who serve as Housemasters and Mistresses do extra work after teaching. Yes, they are usually with the students after classes attending to their needs. Such Teachers are supposed to be given some allowances but never given anything.
I have been a Housemaster before and it was very common to accompany sick students to the hospital sometimes in the deep night. When the school has no means of transportation, teachers have to foot to town to find a Taxi and take such students to the Hospital or Clinic but they are not given any allowances for that.
Teachers staying on campus attend the Dining Hall as the students eat and are not paid for that. When it is Sports time, teachers should be available for supervision. Are the Teachers given any allowances for that. I was never given any when I taught for many years in Ghana. What about going to the School Farm with students? Teachers are not given anything for anything they do for the school and students besides teaching. I have had a situation when I took students to the Hospital after 12 Midnight or times after classes. Besides Teachers, do other workers do things for free? Let it be known that Teachers do many things for the students and schools for free. If Teachers are required to pay much for accommodation etc, then teachers should be paid allowances for extra curricular activities. Some teachers never want to be Housemasters because of inconveniences like visiting the Dormitories to ensure that students are in their beds after Lights out.
Visit the residences of Teachers on campus and you will be surprised to see how they are poorly. If Teachers use their own vehicles to transport students to the Hospital, they are not given any fuel for that. Teaching has been seen as a sacrificial work but I think that they should be given some allowances for things that they do besides teaching. Let us be very appreciative of what Teachers sacrifice to do towards the education of our students.

At my time as a Teacher in Ghana, I was very young and was assigned many such responsibilities as a Housemaster, Assistant Sports Master but was paid nothing for such responsibilities. With the Salaries of Teachers in some cases not paid for about Eighteen months, I very much doubt Teachers engaged in co curricular responsibilities are paid any extra money. I wish they are. That will make many of them be interested in the profession and remain with the GES for longer periods of time. Teachers posted to remote area will not want to remain there and students from such areas suffer academically.

Russia's economy started expanding and they became richer than the Communist period Vladimir Putin govt has cancelled most of the Freebies that the govt used to give it's citizens. Education was free from Nursery to University during Communist era now it's no more.There used to be free Communist flats for Russians now they are paid well so they are going in for Mortgages. We need strong leadership to also carry out these reforms, there's too much waste in the system.

The buildings looks old and dilapidated with much of their inner roads washed off . The school authorities should do the needful and make sure the students get the best place to lay their heads after studying, also it’s my appeal that the central government comes to their aid

We are in government work and all most of us know is to loot and become rich at the expense of others and development and then turn around to talk chaff and degrade people who have better IQ's than us.
Why should a teacher pay rent when school is free and we were all clapping thinking manna will fall again from heaven to do deleopment for us with our evil ways.We are dodging TAX, even the Chairman at PAC will collect sitting allowance that can pay the poor teacher one whole year.
people lets be measured they way crusify people without merits and facts.

Please people the schools are for Ghana and is me and you our responsibility to make it right and better.

Shame on us all after school what have we all given back to the school that gave us the basic step to life, not even a Cedi.

Whilst others are paying 10 percent of their basic as rent, others too are paying 30gh.if other teachers are paying more then I think there is a problem. ministry of housing too are to be blamed cox they manages all government assets [buildings]state housing.

By retirement, your successor may not be able to enjoy the facility because of lack of renovation. At least Ghc200 a month should be considered.
