Let's be realistic and honest with ourselves. Conditions in the North are not quite exactly what one would ordinarily accept as acceptable or welcoming. Even the native people of that part of the country, immigrate in droves to the more urban southern areas of the country to do menial work which is not even available in the North. This is so, because, pre-independence colonial govts to present day govts failed to enhance the economic and living conditions of that part of the country.

That being the case, Linda Ocloo, as a senior member of the ruling NDC Party, should not have used this self-incriminating fact as a rod with which to whip errant Civil Servants into line. I think she must render a public apology to the people of the North. She should have simply said that public servants who do not perform well enough to meet the level of their salaries, or those who indulge in corrupt activities will either be sacked for gross incompetence or put before court to answer for any criminal activity.

Seeing that Linda Ocloo is not sufficiently stewed in the art of respect for public sensitivities, she must avoid off-the-cuff statements and remarks - even when provoked by mischievous journalists.

Mahama is a student of History and should understand what needs to be done yet, the indications so far in his second term are turning out to be the same attitude of dithering and playing Mr. Nice. Akuffo-Addo was right when he came to Savannah during the campaign, in pointing out to us why Mahama did not see the need to create a separate Savannah region until he did. Mahama all of a sudden was now promising development for the Savannah region when he was president until he came to create one. Same with the autonomization of University campuses of the then UDS. It took the NPP to come and realize the dreams. The NDC incrementalist approach to governance has already taken over this administration even before the primary season. Where is the 24 hr economy? I bet that Once the time comes, Mahama cannot control his ministers and appointees who will be busy fighting for their survival. I thought Mahama had learned from his first term.
