I worked for WAEC for a period of time and know that WAEC always make provision for different questions so that if there are Exam Questions leakages, different question papers can be presented for students to write. From the news published, this was not the fault of the students. Why should the students not be allowed to write a Supplementary Questions? Should the students be made to suffer for being late to the examination center because of a severe thunderstorm? The Ministry of Education and the Government must come in to help the unfortunate students. All Opinion Leaders must come in to help the affected students.

I don't know what time the rainstorm started but most day schools or schools with day students tell students to be in the school at least an hour to the commencement of the paper. It is possible because of the intensity of the storm most students couldn't commute through it. The external examiner can also not be blamed if the students showed up beyond the time allowed for lateness. Let's hope it can be resolved amicably for the sake of the students.

I don't get it. Why external Examiner? No WAEC only use EXTERNAL SUPERVISORS AND EXTERNAL INVIGILATORS FOR THE CONDUCT OF WASSCE IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS. I am very certain Secondi Secondary School is a public school and for that matter the HEADMASTER IS THE SUPERVISOR WITH THE TEACHERS OF THE SCHOOL SERVING AS INVIGILATORS. Or there was WEAC external officers at the start of the exams?. Currently, the rule says students should be seated 30 minutes before the start of the paper and this CHEMISTRY PAPER 2and 1 started at 8:30 am, so even a minute after that, it means you would not be allowed in the examination hall. But this could be considered as a circumstances beyond the students and the rule should have been relaxed unless there is a different side of this story.

I listen to this lady in an interview on a TV station and from her utterances she cannot be a good parent. We must understand that education is not only about Chew Pour and Forget. It is about teaching our children to be responsible citizens! In Ghana people get to work late whenever there's the slightest drizzle. According to the interview, the Day students were there on time but the affected students were mostly borders. Instead of blaming the students, I heard the lady blaming the invigilators and 'accepting' that children these days are difficult to train or disciplined (aso y3 den).

In Ghana, no matter what you do or your offence, you'll get people to plead for you. That is why we see indiscipline every one metre in Ghana. Instead of making the students suffer to serve as a deterrent to others, the PTA have started appealing to politicians. Elsewhere abroad, whether rain or shine, you are supposed to do what you are expecting to do - not GH. Because of the kind of training we get in our homes and schools, we do whatever we like because there are 'honourable' to plead for us with the excuse that THERE'S A SPOILT CHILD IN EVERY HOME. You the results everywhere - at the workplace, in politics, etc. It is for this reason that politicians can Loot state assets or workers stealing or get involved in embezzlement because there are people in 'respectable' positions to plead on their behalf. Sadly, because I don't condone such unruly behaviour at home, my kids call me a wicked dad. Among themselves they call me JJ - Junior Judas but I don't care.

If kids of these days are difficult to train it is because of adults like the PTA chairwoman, always finding excuses for indiscipline students, they must suffer the consequences of their actions.

I think we need to get all the facts before people jump to conclusion by blaming the school or pleading for them. There's a practice now that students will deliberately stay out waiting for 'AP)'. Sometimes trachers will chase them and they will rather run into hiding. Besides, people my know that it's a national exams guided but common regulations, so students in one school cannot be treated differently. A candidate is supposed to sit 30 minutes before the start of the paper and after the start the start of the paper, no candidate is to be allowed entry, except under a special circumstance., even that depends on the time the candidate shows up. In any case, many students have suffered same across the country, is it because this has come to the media.
