I think if the OTUMFOUR went to a function in Canada, he might have travelled with a Diplomatic Passport and Visa else he would have been languishing in Jail or Prison Protective Custody by now because he is still wanted there and has not yet been given any Pardon for his alleged crimes committed in Canada. OTUMFOUR should just hasten slowly. If he makes a mistake of going to Canada without any Political Protection or Pardon, he will end up in Prison custody there. That is just my very young advice to NANA OTUMFOUR.

The Asantehene is very much respected in Ghana, especially among the Asante people. That doesn’t make him the KING OF GHANA. The Ga , Guan ANLO EWE, DAGBANI and other ethnic groups in Ghana respect him but don’t see him as their King and for that matter the King of Ghana. Even in Asante tradition, the Asantehene is seen as an equal to the other AMANTOUR Paramount Chiefs. He is respected by all Asante people but not mightier than the Paramount Chiefs of Juabeng, Kokofu, Nsuta, Bekwai among others. Somewhere along the line, he was even portrayed as the KING OF AFRICA. That is palpable falsehood. There has never been, and there will never be a KING OF AFRICA. Asantes should know that. There is the King or Queen of England but there can never be the King of Great Britain or Europe. This is not too much difficult to comprehend by the Asantes people. Let him be, and refer to him as he is truly and traditionally known.

On the contrary, the acceptance enhances the other amantuo ahenfo notwithstanding the fact that they do not supersede sikadwa. I think you will also agree that that arrangement has created a truism that powerfully projects Asanteman globally: Asantehene and any representative of Asantehene is accorded respect and recognition emanating from history and the present acceptance among the Amantuo. Now, Otumfuo is Asantehene, not Anywhere-else-hene. We all accept that. Break no sweat over the hyperbole of the sons and daughters.

I think we are all operating on the same wavelength. The Asantehene is seen by the Asante people as Primus Inter Pares, meaning the First among Equals. He is very much respected and cannot take decisions about Asanteman without consultation with the other AMANTOUR Paramount Chiefs. One Asantehene tried to do that and it led to the Juabeng and Asante war that led to the defeat of Juabeng and their subsequent migration for refuge at Akyem Abuakwa whose Paramount Chief gave them the present day New Juabeng. Part of my ancestry is from Asokore in the New Juabeng. The people of New Juabeng do just yield to the dictates of the Asantehene.
When the Asantehemaa died, the people of Koforidua and the New Juabeng wore shoes, sandals and Hats while the other Asante people could not. At one time, there was going to be the celebration of the AKWASIDAE KESE at Kumasi. The Present Asantehene had invited many foreign dignitaries to the occasion and gave an order that it is only him who should ride in the Palanquin. The other chiefs, including even Paramount Chiefs were expected to walk in front of the Asantehene who only could ride in the Palanquin. The Present Omanhene of New Juaben who is more educated than the Asantehene and was even the Chief Government Statistician refused to attend the occasion. The Asantehene is traditionally the Paramount Chief of Kumasi and does not wield absolute control over all Asanteman. He can ONLY take decisions for Asanteman in consultation with the Asanteman Council
. He is not absolute. The Asantehene knows that himself and does not cross onto the Turf of any Asantehene Paramount Chief. He tried once and he failed. Do you know he tried to install a Paramount Chief of his choice on the KOKOFU throne and that led to Bad Blood between KOKOFU and the Asantehene. You can verify my claim from KOKOFU. Presently, the KOKOFU Paramount Chief does not respond to direct summons from the Asantehene but from the Asanteman Concil.
The Asantehene is very much respected but he should not assume positions and titles that have not been accorded him traditionally and constitutionally. The Asantehene is not, and can never be the KING OF GHANA.

Many Ghanaians in the Western World will never want to come back and resettle in the country where corruption and Human Rights abuses are the order of the day. I can come to visit Ghana as often as I can but will never come to settle there in this horrible condition. I encourage my children to visit Ghana every year but none of them is ready to go to build a house and settle there. Where in Ghana do you go to do something official and don’t pay bribes before you are served?
How many Ghanaians who have made it in the Western World will want to go to live in Ghana with their DUNSOR, horrible roads and very poor medical conditions? I surely will not. I am comfortable in where I live.
