Residents of Adamorobe in the Akuapem South Municipality of the Eastern Region have threatened to boycott the 2028 general elections if authorities fail to fix the deplorable state of roads in the area.
They accused successive governments of neglect, saying repeated promises to improve the road network have not been fulfilled, leaving the community cut off and struggling economically.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV on June 24, 2026, a spokesperson for the residents expressed worry over the development.
He lamented that the poor road conditions have made access to essential services extremely difficult, especially healthcare.
“The problem in this community is very serious. It has been like this for many years. People here are suffering. We don’t even have a CHPSS compound or a proper clinic. So, when someone falls sick, especially pregnant women in labour, we have to travel long distances to reach other health facilities. And because of the bad roads, the journey becomes very dangerous.
"Sometimes, by the time we manage to get a pregnant woman into a taxi or on a motorbike and reach the hospital, she may have already delivered in the vehicle. The road conditions are that bad, and it is costing lives and causing a lot of pain for our people," he lamented.
Another also stated that due to the deplorable nature of the roads, residents may block political activities.
"We the youth in the community have threatened to boycott the 2028 elections; if the roads are not fixed, no politician will be allowed to campaign here," he said.
Chiefs demand immediate action on Samreboi poor road network
Residents are therefore calling for urgent intervention, warning that continued neglect could lead to a voter boycott in the 2028 elections as a form of protest.
