Flood victims to receive free passports replacement within one week - Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will replace passports lost or damaged during this week's devastating floods within one week, as part of measures to support affected Ghanaians.

In a statement issued on July 3, 2026, the Ministry said it had taken the decision after recognising that many victims of the floods may have lost or had their passports damaged.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to implement an expedited replacement of lost and damaged Ghanaian passports as a result of the floods," the statement said.

The Ministry also expressed its deepest sympathies to all persons affected by the flooding, which claimed lives and destroyed properties in several parts of the country.

"The Ministry is aware of the catastrophic consequences including loss of lives and destruction of properties. We extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased," it added.

To facilitate the replacement process, the Ministry has asked affected persons to contact its dedicated hotline, 055 936 8563, between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026.

Callers are required to provide their name, date of birth and gender as captured in the lost or damaged passport, as well as a contact telephone number for follow-up.

According to the Ministry, all eligible lost and damaged passports reported through the exercise will be replaced within a week.

The Ministry further assured the public that it remains committed to supporting government-led recovery efforts and stands in solidarity with all those affected by the floods.
