A Ghanaian lady has sparked widespread reactions on social media after sharing a video message directed at Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew following Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The message came after the Black Stars suffered defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, ending Ghana’s campaign at the tournament.

In the viral video, the lady sarcastically addressed the veteran forward, stating that she is not going to pretend to thank him for his service to the national team before wishing him well in retirement.

“It would be pretentious of me to say that we want to thank you for your service to the national team… We wish you well in your retirement,” she said.

She went on to argue that Ayew should recognise when it is time to step away, suggesting his continued presence in the team had contributed to the disappointment of Ghanaian supporters.

“I think it’s very important that you leave understanding the lesson of ‘when my time is up, it’s up’… Your time’s up. It’s been up and you should have accepted that it was up because now we all have to be sad because of you. Happy retirement,” she added.

The video has since generated several reactions online, with many social media users agreeing with her assessment of the Black Stars captain’s performances.
