This direction is beyond the scope of any Traditional Leader and it is illegal. Such a directive can only be given by the Government in consultation with the Legal and Traditional Leadership of the country. This should be an appeal but not a Directive. If some people decide to engage in their economic and social activities, what can the Ga Mantse do? Has he got the Police and Military Forces to enforce any such directive? Don’t let us create problems we can’t solve.
I will also want to find out IF WE HAVE A GA MANTSE as the Asante people have the ASANTEHENE? What are the Powers of the Ga Mantse? Which parts of the Ga Traditional Area does his Powers encompass. Even the Ga people do not recognize any specific Ga Mantse. Let this Local and Chieftain leave Ghana and the Ga People alone. There is no recognized Ga Mantse. Let him not start any fight he cannot win. Let Ghanaians peacefully go to do the Cleanup. Growing up, the Nkrumah and subsequent Governments employed people to clean up all areas in Ghana until Efo Julor John Rawlings came up with the Retrenchment Program. Since then, when students come out from school, they can be unemployed for over six years. Those who are unemployed like needed Professionals like Teachers, Nurses, and Medical Doctors can work for about a year and six months without any pay or allowances. How can such people who may even have families survive? Your guess is as good as mine.

There is nothing like Ga Mantse in Ghana. The Ga People are not United like the Asante and the Dagbani people to have a recognized Paramount Chief. And by the constitution of Ghana, nobody is recognized as the King of any ethnic group. An Ethnic Group may choose to refer to their Paramount Chief as King but that is not recognized in Ghana. Let us find out if the Ga People even recognize any of their Chiefs as the Paramount Chief, let alone the King of all the Ga people. Just look at how they fight against and argue with each other as to which of the Chiefs should be seen as the Paramount Chief who can even execute the HOMOWO for the whole of the Ga Traditional Area. That has never been done before.

The Asante people have their AKWASIDAE KESE which is not declared and mandated by the ASANTEHENE but by the ASANTEMAN Council. I don’t mean any insult but can the Ga Royalties learn anything good from that. Note that the Asante People are very much united because their chiefs and Paramount Chiefs are not absolute. The Asantehene is much respected in ASANTEMAN and even beyond but he is not absolute. He is subservient to the ASANTEMAN Council.

These folks are posturing and flexing their muscles in other to cause problems in case anyone oppose them. THEY SHOULD BE OPPOSED. The Ghana Constitution does not have any law or provision which grants ANY traditional leader (chiefs in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, etc) to issue such order for itself or on its behalf. Do they understand the economic implications to citizens, irrespective of how good the exercise is?
Let the GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL MINISTER do her work by enforcing the local government laws already on the books. What are the municipal assemblies doing everyday when it comes to sanitation and enforcing the appropriate laws. CHIEFTAINCY IS AND HAS BEEN THE BAIN OF GHANA'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
