Former President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Roland Affail Monney, has called on the government to urgently intervene following alleged attack on Ghanaian-owned JonahCapital's assets at River Park Estate in Abuja, Nigeria.
Contributing to a panel discussion on the alleged attack on JoyNews monitored by GhanaWeb on July 14, 2026, he described the situation as worrying.
Affail Money warned that it has the potential to undermine efforts to promote regional integration and economic cooperation within West Africa.
"What's happening in Nigeria is a highly unfortunate development, which has the potential to undermine the attempt to create one economic and political space where goods, capital investment and people can move freely," he said.
Affail Monney further noted that the alleged attacks should not be viewed as affecting only a private company but as a matter of national interest, given that Ghanaian investments abroad deserve protection.
"This calls for the highest response. What happens to any Ghanaian investment should be of concern to officialdom," Monney stated.
The former GJA president urged Ghanaian authorities to act with urgency through established diplomatic channels.
"We expect officialdom to intervene with urgency. We have a High Commission in Nigeria, and the two countries have diplomatic relations," he said.
His comments come after the National Association of Ghanaian Communities in Nigeria (NAGHACON) expressed concern over the reported destruction of facilities belonging to JonahCapital, warning that the incident could have implications for relations between Ghana and Nigeria.

Following a visit to the estate, NAGHACON said it observed damage to JonahCapital's Gallery Clubhouse, gatehouse and other structures, while facilities belonging to other companies operating within the estate were reportedly left untouched.
The group has linked its concerns to the broader issue of xenophobic attacks against African migrants, citing the situation in South Africa as a warning sign of how tensions can escalate.
NAGHACON has also appealed to both the Ghanaian and Nigerian governments to take immediate steps to address the matter and ensure the protection of Ghanaian businesses and investments operating in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, in January 2026, a Nigerian court dismissed criminal charges against Ghanaian businessman Sam Jonah and JonahCapital directors concerning the River Park Estate dispute.
The Attorney General of the Federation discontinued the charges, finding allegations of forgery and fraud unsubstantiated after reviewing police investigations and case files.
The dispute stemmed from a property disagreement, with the Attorney General criticizing the police for mischaracterizing a commercial issue as criminal.
