US-based Ghanaian military officer, Twumasi
A US-based Ghanaian military officer identified as Twumasi has advised Ghanaians planning to travel abroad, especially to the United States, to avoid using illegal means of migration.
According to him, many foreigners living in the United States of America are facing significant hardships due to their immigration status.
Howveer he added that despite the challenges, it is better to be in America than to remain unemployed in Ghana.
"If you don't have legal documents and you are living in America or any part of the world, you will suffer… but it is better to live here than to stay in Ghana without a job or a salary, "he said in a self-made video shared on social media on July 14, 2026.
Twumasi further stated that many undocumented immigrants endure difficult situations in an attempt to regularize their stay.

According to him, some even enter into marriages solely to obtain legal residency, only to face serious challenges afterward.
He cited the example of a man who allegedly lost his property to his American spouse because he feared the consequences of his immigration status and was unable to defend his rights.
