The document, which was signed by Dr Agyemang (L), was shared by High Commissioner Zita Benson (R)
A leaked documents which has gone viral has shown scandalous infractions at the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat when it was led by Dr Kingsley Agyemang, the immediate past Registrar of Scholarships and current Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South.
One of the documents showed the Secretariat going beyond its mandate to offer a scholarship for a 16-year-old student to attend a high school in the United Kingdom.
The document, which was signed by Dr Agyemang, indicated that the government of Ghana was sponsoring the 16-year-old to attend the said high school, which is located in London.
The document also showed that the sponsorship was for admission in 2022, which was for two years.
The government, through the Secretariat, paid an amount of £27,900 for each year as tuition fees.
Additionally, the passport details of the beneficiary showed that the beneficiary was a female who was born on September 20, 2006.
The documents were shared by Ghana’s High Commission to the United Kingdom. Sabah Zita Benson, who shared the documents, said that she hoped that someone would be held “accountable soon” for what had happened.
She insisted that the award of the scholarship was illegal.
“This particular scholarship was given to a 16-year-old to attend a private school (high school level) that will prepare her for a good college, which is outside the mandate of the Scholarship Secretariat.
“... Eventually, we shall clear the mess but I do hope someone is accountable soon,” she said.
