This attitude has led to many Africans, including Ghanaians particularly those working in the Healthcare sector ABROAD destroying their careers because they revealed the medical details of a patient or acquaintance. In fact, this is now taken so seriously that in some Western European countries it can now lead to a custodial sentence of from 6 months to 5 years in prison plus dismissal. It has been painful to see this happen to some friends and acquaintances.
LET THIS BE A WARNING TO THOSE OF OUR COMPATRIOTS WORKING IN THE WEST WHO HAVE LOOSE TONGUES OR WHO LACK INTEGRITY AND. In any case remember the Golden Rule: Do to others as you would have them do to you and conversely don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want others to do to you under similar conditions.

In today’s world, where privacy is a fundamental human right, it is ethically unacceptable to take a picture of a sick person without the patient’s consent. Ghanaians need more civic education on ethical and professional conduct, because some of the information people share on social media is simply unacceptable. How can you take a picture of a patient and publish it for the whole world to see? Even worse, some people attend funerals, take pictures of the deceased, and post them on social media platforms! These actions are clear violations of people’s privacy and dignity. Let’s respect one another’s privacy and conduct ourselves with greater civility, please!
