Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Japan’s Ambassador to Ghana, Hiroshi Yoshimoto
New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has held discussions with Japan’s Ambassador to Ghana, Hiroshi Yoshimoto, and officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to explore ways of strengthening Ghana-Japan relations.
The meeting, according to Dr Bawumia, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in several key areas of mutual interest.
Among the issues discussed were digitalisation, financial technology (fintech), artificial intelligence (AI), flood control, and strategies to combat illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Dr Bawumia described the engagement as productive, expressing appreciation to Ambassador Yoshimoto and his team for the visit and their courtesy.
The meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen international partnerships and explore practical solutions to some of Ghana’s pressing development challenges, particularly in technology, environmental protection and disaster management.
Dr Bawumia thanked the Japanese Ambassador and the JICA team for their engagement, emphasising the importance of continued cooperation between Ghana and Japan.
