Nkrumah wanted to make a One Party State which was unacceptable to many Ghanaians. He also declared himself President for life. What kind of North Korean Communism was that? He made it look like Ghana was his property and his word was law. Many Ghanaians had become very well educated and very much inclined to the West. There was no way many the educated will yield to a One Party Political System where there was no room for any oppositional views. Those who opposed Nkrumah like other members of the BIG SIX were sent to the Nsawam Prison which became his quarantine, Concentration Camp, and Slaughter House. Ghanaians lived under the Culture of Fear. Nkrumah, like Napoleon Bonaparte was always right.
Nkrumah also spent Ghana's money foolishly in helping other African countries gain Independence and establish his OAU where he planned to be the President of Africa. He failed to realize that the Arabs looked down on Black Africans and were not going to allow a Black African to be the President of Africa.How much did Nkrumah spend on other African countries to help them gain Independence and lean towards the Soviet Union at the highest height of the Cold War. At that time when Guinea became Independent, leaned towards the Soviet Union and established a kind of Dictatorship. France and the Western World were not going to have none of that and imposed sanctions on Guinea. At that time, Nkrumah just dashed Guinea 13 Billion US Dollars. He was spending Ghana's money frivolously on other African countries like Congo, Zimbabwe, Namibia etc while Ghana was not very rich. When he was overthrown, Ghana was almost Bankrupt. I was a little Grown Up and remember the general shortages of Goods and Services. It was foolish and suicidal to meddle in the affairs between the Soviet Union and Uncle Sam and her Allies. Yes. Nkrumah's Military Overthrow was planned and financed by Uncle Sam and the West. He should have realized that when two Elephants are fighting, a Goat doesn't stand between them. Ghana's financial crisis started at the Dictatorial rule of Ghana. He engineered and caused his own overthrow. So wicked he imprisoned his own benefactors who he imprisoned without trial for and were buried at the Nsawam Prison Cemetery. J.B Danquah had gone blind in Prison but he didn't release him but made him die at the Nsawam Prison and buried at the Prison Cemetery
That was evil and wickedness. I remember the mass jubilation that erupted in Ghana with his overthrow. If he had not been overthrown, Ghana would have been worse than North Korea.

Nkrumah recalled him to Ghana and made him an MP and foreign minister simply because he Nkrumah felt that AQS was becoming more popular and more internationally respected than he was. AQS betrayal of Nkrumah was a way of paying Nkrumah back for removing him from the UN.
