There has reportedly been confusion during the ongoing 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), following a dramatic development in the Round of 18 stage of the competition on August 26, 2026.

The final contest for the day featured St Augustine’s College, Anlo Senior High School and Kumasi High School.

According to multiple reports circulating online, the confusion reportedly started after teachers and students from the participating schools engaged in a confrontation following a protest by St Augustine’s College, popularly known as Augusco.

Augusco had raised concerns over an answer in one of the rounds and requested that the point be awarded to the school. However, the matter reportedly generated tension among the teams, teachers and students after the concern was considered.

The situation eventually resulted in Anlo SHS, which had 34 points and Kumasi High School 20 points, leaving the stage during Round Four, allowing St Augustine’s College to continue with 39 points.

The two schools also reportedly refused to participate in the final round, Round Five, popularly known as the Riddles.

The incident has since generated reactions on social media, with several users sharing their views on the development and questioning what transpired during the contest.
