This is when the wise saying "shit or get off the pot" is apt. The Ghana parliament, especially the minority MP's who are yet to see or read a news article they would not commandeer and bear as their own for 5-minutes of political notoriety must act.

To me, it is a matter that is more important than a host of news headlines over the past 2-months. This issue is very important for 3-reasons:

1. It involves the veracity or credibility of the Ghana land registration process. If the process of land registration was effective and can be held up in court as proof of evidence then we would not have 2- sitting MP's Hon Afenyo-Markin, the NPP minority leader buy a plot of land that is presumably registered to him or persons of his choice need barbaric landguards to protect and secure the land? What good is anything from the land registry office if someone at a land registration office could re-register a valid and previously registered land in the name of buyer/buyers or alter an existing registration certificate in another name if the process at land registry offices can be trustworthy?

2. Why would Hon Afenyo-Markin, the NPP minority leader buy land outside the boundaries of his district/ constituency and with control over a police command in his precinct use the police to go into a neighbouring precinct? Is the alleged quid pro quo created by Hon Afenyo-Markin with the building of a police station as gift to the police command the image Ghana Police believe exudes trust with voters?

3. Why would police units from Winneba be involved in issues taking place in another precinct with its own MP? Who called and spoke to whom at the Winneba station? Who at the Winneba police precinct received the call and approved to dispatch officers with orders to shoot to kill?

To Hon A+ Plus, why would his own precinct not have a dedicated police service station that serves the Gomoa enclave? Why would the police from Winneba not communicate directly to the MP for the Gomoa precinct prior to entering another demarkated zone?

As an ousider looking in, I am distrustfull of the unchecked powers of Hon Afenyo-Markin relative to what seems to be reciprocity of police favors for the benefits the police command received from Hon Afenyo/Markin. It is equally a disgrace to the Ministry responsible for the Ghana Police Service to allow individual to provide facilities for any Ghana Police command. All gifts must come through the ministry and the ministry must decide the appropriate use of presumed donations.
