(SOURCE) JOY ONLINE:------------------------------The National Democratic Congress has more than doubled Ghana’s debt in four years but it has very little or nothing to show for it, New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Obuasi, Kweku Kwarteng, has said.

According to him, after government increased Ghana’s debt from $8 billion dollars in 2009 to $17 billion in 2012; after enjoying oil proceeds, the first government in Ghana’s history, after enjoying windfalls in cocoa prices and gold prices the only evidence NDC has to show for these huge inflows are power cuts, water crisis, gas shortages and unemployment.

The Obuasi MP said his constituents have for over ten months not had water flow through their taps and there has not been any official explanation for it.

He said the whole country has been plunged into darkness with government sources and spokespersons providing contradictory dates as to when the power cuts will come to an end.

He made these assertions on MultiTV and Joy FM’s news analysis programme Newsfile on Saturday.

What is worse, Kweku Kwarteng added, the country is operating a huge budget deficit of $8.7 billion up from $6.6 billion in 2008 but with nothing to show for the expenditure.

He said whilst the citizenry are suffering, government and other state institutions are blowing the country’s money through unnecessary overspending.

According to him, the presidency alone over spent over GHC600 million without consulting Parliament.

Kweku Kwarteng also accused the government of completely running down the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) with the view to privatising it and has failed to account for the TOR recovery levy which was imposed by the NPP to offset the TOR debt incurred as a result of whysubsidy on fuel prices.

This should read the article and not the rubbish from NADMO. The said accused has in recent times pleaded for public funds saying “foreign governments are fed up giving the nation any disaster fund due to the same occurrence year after year”. They also ascertain that donors are baffled with that fact that the nation is not putting down measures to prevent these common disasters from happening and are yet ready with hands stretch to receive donations.

If foreign donors have come to such conclusions, then I don’t understand what (NADMO) boss, Mr. Kofi Portuphy is crying about. Obviously then there are massive signs of mismanagement going on which needs to be addressed? Instead of fighting these accusations do more to put your department in order. There was a recent article about the outbreak of anthrax in the Bawku West but peculiar to it was the comment that, this happens yearly in that region. Of course if I were a foreign donor to such a disaster, I would be eventually fed up for the lack of commitment from Ghanaians concerned not to prevent it from happening.

That’s what the country in general is facing particularly under this NDC government which has flooded into all areas of the public sector and NGO’s, lack of accountability, commitment, transparency and effective leadership. They will talk to spin issues but practically do nothing about anything and yet the highest spenders in the history of Ghana only next to the Nkrumah’s government for those of you who not enlightened on this.

Spintex Ableisa road leading to Tsui Bleo has been under construction for eight years stalled with uncompleted bridge and dut without any progress.
Where is the money voted for it ?

East Legon/asare Botchwey highway was started with full vigor but stalled with dust covering the half paved road. What happened to the money?

What happened to NDC's pledge to fill Nsawam prison with NPP ministers and appointees? Portuphy knew about Akomea's supposed corrupt deals and he kept quiet over it? If NADMO borrows money to help Kumasi victims in Bantama; Tamale flood victims; Wenchi robbery victims; Kofiridua Asokore victims; Sowutuom Languard victims; Ketu gun-shot victims; Winneba aboakyere disaster victims; Sandema beekeeper victims; St. Augustine's highway victims; or Bawku political victims, all will be with the hope getting government vote and settle from it.

NADMO is not petty trading the relief materials for any profit. It is all consumerism. So, people, understand what NADMO is about.

Where is Rawlings to remind the NPP that the politics of Pull-Him-Down does not work in this 21 Century. Rather the politics of Raise-Your-Head above others that wins elections.

Thank tone I absolutely agree with you but all corrupt information that NPP are alleging does not back credible facts just mere allegation. I wish as a strong party like should do their home work providing credible information for proper legal prosecution but mere allegation of corruption here or there will not stand in legal defends. Neither does it help the country to fight corruption.
The area they milk and left over are still hunting them that is why are presuming there is continue corrupt practices still going there. In short they back it with evidence for proper prosecution.
