NPP TRANFORMED GHANA TO A MIDDLE INCOME ECONOMY WITH LIMITED RESOURCES BUT GOOD POLICIES. NDC IS WOEFULLY REVERSING THESE NPP ACHIEVEMENTS. GHANA'S CURRENT SITUATION IS VERY DISTURBING. WHEN THE HISTORY IS TOLD, IT WILL BE SAID THAT GHANAIANS WERE OFFERED FREE SECONDARY EDUCATION, IMPROVED UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, SOCIAL HOUSING FOR THE POOR AND AN EGALITARIAN SOCIETY BUT 50% SAID NO THANK YOU. t was a frivolous case without merit in the first place. Many of us, including some astute NPP supporters in Ghana and on this very Ghanaweb, had said so.

You have to be delusional and very superstitious to believe that the SC can cancel the 4 million votes and declare Nana Akufo Addo the winner! The worst they could have done is call for a re-vote but the grounds for that was even very flimsy, and that was not even the relief the NPP sought.

Had Dr. Afari Gyan given them two days extra to vent their spleens and listened to their complaints, show them some original copies which were signed while their Pink sheets weren't and explained to them why, instead of telling them off to Go To court, they wouldn't have gone to court! That's why I am already recommending that, as part of electoral reforms to be implemented, a CI should be passed prohibiting the EC from declaring results for up to a maximum of 5 days should a complaint be launched against any candidate or polls. Within that period, the EC, pol. party reps and High Court judge shall examine the complaints administratively. After that, the EC can declare the results and if any party is still unhappy, he/she can go to court. We SHOULD NEVER BE SUBJECTED TO THIS MACABRE CIRCUS AGAIN!

Today, they have been found out by EOCO and the Sole Commissioner to have deliberately connived to steal millions from the State. The Supreme Court has confirmed the stealing, labelling it as an alliance to create, loot and share.

Rather than deal decisively with such gargantuan and mind boggling impunity and corruption, the President chooses to join his communication foot-soldier chorus.

They dealt with the evidence according to the law.

Did you expect them to disenfranchise 4 million Ghanaians to allow Nana Addo to become president, when the right to vote is enshrined in the
constitution and the voters had not broken the law? Moreso when there was confusion over the primary evidence, the pink sheets?

Look at the voting patterns. All the judges were agreed on 3 issues. Dotse disagreed on 2 issues, and Owusu, Annin Yeboah and Ansah disagreed on 3. There was a clear majority who agreed the case should be dismissed.

Remember that the judges had access to evidence which was not made public eg the sworn affidavits.

You can be sure they weighed the evidence and the legal arguments before arriving at their decisions.

Please respect the verdict of the court.

You should be proud to be a Ghanaian, given that our judges have upheld the rule of law, asserted the independence of the judiciary and laid a marker for Africa and the world at large.

The whole world has been following proceedings with us, and you can be absolutely certain that reference will be made to this ruling by other jurisdictions in future electoral disputes.

I am proud to be Ghanaian, but I am not proud about our judiciary. I don't care about the legal matters, the judges could twist them any which way the wished. However, it was obvious from Afari-Djan's "I am not sure in my mind what over-voting is", Asiedu Nketia's "Foreign Materials", as well as the use of four separate pink sheets at a single polling station that mathematically, something was not right with those.

Any of the judges who did not agree on those two is just not competent. And that is probably why they were three hour late! There was some horse trading.

I believe that they took the decision they did because they knew that if it went against the NDC, there would be violence. After all they have been burning things in the Volta and the three northern regions because they do not like their own NDC DCEs. Chickening out does not serve the cause of justice!

What this whole thing confirms is that there are some parts of Ghana that are hundred years ahead of the rest in terms of civilsation and tolerance!

Interesting voting pattern. I think there is a mistake with that of Bafo Bonnie, because i am aware he upheld the verification challenge. But, clearly you can see some division at the supreme court just as there is division in the country. Atuguba, Adiyinra, Akoto Bamfo, Sule Gbadegbe on one side and Anin Yeboah, Ansah and Owusu on the other side. I think Dotse and Bafo Bonnie are the real deciders as well as king makers on this panel and you can even tell by their demeanor during the entire hearing.Though dangerous,it is at the same time healthy revalation that just as the country has strongholds and swing regions, we also have same composition at the highest court of the land. It makes everyone know that though you have some level of support, it will take more than your support base to win either in an election or at the suprem court. This is indeed good for Ghana. I LOVE IT

No wonder they have typical Ashanti names. The only Judges to uphold some of the petitioners claims. The petition was soo bad that, the NPP Judges could just not help them thoroughly.

In many cases on the African Continent, it's the behaviour of Supreme Court Judges that throw countries into chaos such as happened in the Ivory Coast, Liberia, Senegal et al. They always rule in favour of Governments in power regardless of what evidence there are to prove otherwise. NPP supporters and Ghanaians in general are wiser, and they won't result to any violence over this. Had the verdict gone the other way with the NDC losing, their hooligan supporters would have thrown the whole country into chaos by now.

I do not think this is correct. Justice Baffoe-Bonnie was listed as both upholding and dismissing voting without biometric verification. This probably needs to be clarified.

The fact that there were real dissenting voices means that thisd "victory" if you can call it one, is more hollow than the results of December 2012. And the good news is that there CANNOT be another general electtion in Ghana UNTIL there has been a comprehnsive reform of the electoral system.

They EU has certainly cast the first vote of no-confidence in the system, and possibly the judgement too!

According to what Atuguba read at the SC today, there were six Judges voting against the Petitioners in the category of "Voting without biometric verification machine" including Baffoe Bonney but this same Atuguba also mentioned that Baffoe Bonney granted this claim to cancel votes and re-run election in affected areas. The question is 'did Baffoe Bonney truly vote against the claim to suggest 6-3 majority as claimed by Atuguba? Mr President come clean

Is Presidential elections necessary for Ghana? Not all great democracies have presidential elections. Infact most great democracies do not hold presidential elections. Skirt and blouse has not happened in Ghana before and will not happen in our life time. Again the law that you win 50+1% of the votes to become president is archaic must be overturned. What if the 50+1% is coming from only two regions? I do not have the answers myself. But these are issues i want to see debated. It is reforms before pink sheet. Stupid.

But did [people realize a run off would have meant Mahama leaving office within two hrs of the verdict with the whole executive including mayors MMDCEs etc.Doe Adjaho would have been sworn in as acting president for a period lasting till the elections are done and if no challenge is forthcoming a new president sworn in? the country would have been ex[posed to any military adventurist external attack internal disorder and PERMANENT ECONOMIC BREAKDOWN from which Ghana would never recover. Think on man, lets ponder and at least give the Justices (all of them) especially Dokye and Baffo-Bony thumbs up for saving us from the brink of civil war. The most important thing about education is that you learn to analyze issues and make right decisions. Education must lead you to independence. Meaning that you can no longer allow yourself to be manipulated. It is very clear in this forum that majority are still in the darkness.
