How do you discharge your duties effectively when you spend all night preparing for a show down with your political opponents the next morning in radio and television podiums? The problem is that of resourcing and retooling the met Service to deliver the needed services? Madam Anita should let us know how much budget was given to the Agency last year and years earlier. How many Weather Forecasters has the government trained? A lot of the good ones have taken up juicy international jobs because they do not even have the modern equipment to work with. Skilled Meteorologists are aged and if nothing is done in the next 5 years the Service will sieze to exist. Weather and climate issues cut across all areas of our social and economic fabric but this has been relegated by governments. We shall all wait for the day a "hurricane" will sweep us all away because we do not have an Early Warning System in place. What is Meteo doing under Communications anyway? Why not Environment and Science, Meteo is an applied science and has nothing to do with communication. This is why we are were we are now? Communications does not understand the issues. Go to Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso, Gambia not to mention the advanced African countries like Morocco, Algeria, Kenya, South Africa and see the infrastructure and resources at the disposal of Meteo. We reap what we sow. It is a simple as this.We need to wake up from our slumber.

Kindly use your good offices to provide the necessary training and equipment that will ensure that the right early warning is provided . Let us not politicize this issue. Climate change manifested through extreme and uncommon weather phenomena will continue to happen. Let us fight this together as a nation as the President said on Independence day. With today's ICT NADMO should be able to log on onto a webserver at Meteo to see for themselves whatever weather is approaching. I hear the warnings/forecasts are typed and sent via fax. At this age? Meteo needs your help Madam.

The Meteorological Service is not to be blamed for not predicting rain on the 6th march.Those who fought for independence with their sweat and blood are much grieved with President Mahama and co the ways they are handling the affairs of the country.If the President claims traditionally downpour of rain means blessing then on what reason should he charge the Meteorological Agency to sharpen their ability to be able to better predict the weather behaviour for adaptations.The President contention is baseless if he takes the showers of rain as blessings.Next time he will not experience rainfall but rather hailstones and fire as a compensation of his maladministration of the affairs of Ghana.So the President must not interpret the 6th march downpour of rain to suit his own understanding and pray over it.
