You are right, Ghanaman. I think the boy's suicide has been the result of accumulated psychological issues that had not be dealt with. His mother disciplining him was the last trigger. I wished the investigators would find out if his previous diagnosis. Research shows high comorbidity between children who commit suicide and the diagnoses of ODD, ADHD, and CD. It is very sad story but the mother should not be held responsible for his death. As a psychotherapist, l can bet with my professional license that there were some underlying factors behind the boy's death and not his mother's discipline.

This child has gone through emotional stress and physical abuse torture of this single angry woman for sometime and no one took notice of it. He lived in constant fear and felt life is not worth living so the last physical attack by his own mother whom he depends on for survival was the last straw. If he cant find happiness and comfort at home from his own very mother, then what else? Ghana don't have strict child abuse laws and society accept it as a norm to discipline a child by attacking them physically. I am very sad for this poor boy and many more kids going through this ordeal. May God grant him peace.
