There is a school of thought that indicates the economic situation in Ghana is so bad that the NDC party will need a "warehouse full of cash" to survive as a political party after 2016; Fortiz isn't doing too well these days...

The NDC party financiers are all falling foul of the law...from Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome...to Ms. Nayele Ametefe.

Many in the NDC party have already resigned themselves to the year 2000 election scenario...and this time the NDC will not only loose the presidency but the parliament as well; reasons:

1. Election 2012 opened the eyes of every Ghanaian to the shenanigans of the the EC;

2. We will have the voting records of all members of parliament via the "Chinese" equipment in parliament. We now have a very good basis to put individual MPs on the spot to defend their voting records; and furthermore, grill them on whether the think through and fully appreciate the implications of their actions in parliament

We draw the attention of the NDC party, President Mahama, and NDC ministers of state to the efforts that we at "Occupy Ghana" are driving to encourage adoption of the USA-styled "no-visa, no-fly" black-list to be adopted by the United Nations.

Now that Afari-Gyan (the person they did not trust) is leaving for retirement, they want him to stay and conduct the next elections.

Is NPP looking for someone to blame when they lose the next elections again with their expired candidate? By the way, NPP is very proactive because, they know for sure they are going to lose big time in 2016.

If Afari-Gyan, really, personally, had anything to do with the outcome of the last Elections, and he were to stay on, he might not necessarily help the NPP to win in 2016 to either court the Party's love, or to show he has changed. To prove he has always been of high integrity, he might find another means to arrive at the same desirous goal, indicating also that he has always been what and who he is. That would be an attempt to show he did not do anything wrong in the first instance, and the second would not have to show any difference. It is also purely presumptuous to think the NDC can NEVER win if all those errors were to be fixed the next time around. So, the idea that the NPP does not have to do anything but only has to expect the errors in the last Election fixed to have victory in the next is very slippery. I hope Agyepong is not saying this to pre-empt any likely loss of the NPP as yet another cheated Election. Do we simply have to claim cheated, again, if a new Appointee to the EC Chair supervises the next Election and the NDC somehow wins? We have almost 2 more years to go. And that is plenty of time for situations to change in favor of the current Administration's image. So, the NPP must not rest on its oars but work tirelessly to show it has what it takes to make the Nation better than whatever best shot the NDC could deliver.

However, I strongly believe that he did not necessarily deliberately engineer any cheating against the NPP. But his outfit could definitely have done better to avoid those mistakes.

We should also be honest and bold to admit that had the votes in the NPP stronghold been subjected to similar scrutiny after the last Elections, similar errors as the NPP complained about might have popped up in some areas.

All along, I had feared the NDC might also counter sue to have those votes in Ashanti and Eastern Region, where the NPP won massively, checked, too.

That would have prolonged the SC Petition far beyond any reasonable period for any effective governance to ensue.

And, by the way, who says Afari-Gyan wants to stay on? If he wants to exit, no one can force him to stay on to supervise the next Elections. Whoever takes over, we pray, must learn of all the errors and diligently apply the necessary fixes to avoid another SC Petition of that nature.

The NDC did not counter sue because they would have been playing into the hands of the NPP by proving beyond doubt that the elections were flawed. Inspite of all the flaws, by and large, NPP won in 2000 and 2004.With all these same flaws, NDC also won in 2008 and 2012. So was there a real need for a court case after 2012 elections? It was all due to the loser in 2012. Nana Addo is different from Kuffour and Mills. He finds it very difficult to accept defeat.

Sorry, Mr. Agyepong, we cannot eat our cake and have it, too. We vilified the man, demonizing him and according him no iota of trust, after the last Elections and during the Petition at the SC.

If he is stepping down, why would he have to consider hanging on? Besides, no one can force him to conduct the next Elections against his will, if his decision to step down is primarily his own. If we wanted him to stay on for the next Elections, we should have tempered our disappointment with his performance with some decorous concession to his human fallibility, and not come down on him as hard as we did.

Such is one of the reasons many of us preferred that NPP focused on its own shortcomings to learn from them and strategize to avoid any lapses in supervision that allowed the errors of the last Election to happen. But the few loud mouths who only thought blaming someone else for all the Party's problems was the way to go would not listen but dump invectives on us.

Well, there seems to be some little time left to make amends. And the time is now for the NPP to reach out to the Mpianis, Arthur Ks, Tarzans, Dr. Ananes, and Nyaho-Tamakloes to heal up the rift in the Party to put it on a stronger footing.

But what NPP is forgetting is that just as they could not inherit Mills after pushing him to his death, so would they not be responsible for appointing Afari Gyan's successor. Oh, so Agyepong is bemoaning the constitutional clause that allows the President to appoint the EC chair. Is there any reason why Agyepong did not do any bemoaning when he served as a member of parliament during the eight years Kufuor and the NPP rulled Ghana? was the clause not in existence then? Agyepong even worries about the age of the person who maybe appointed EC chair. Mr. MP. should a qualified forty-something year old man or woman not serve because you believe they'll be in office till they attain the age of seventy? You condemned Afari_Gyan after the elections, and demand his ouster. Now you sing a tune contrary to your earlier cries.

It is very unfortunate that instead of correcting past mistakes as was suggested by Tarzan, Nana's team has chosen to villify, denigrate and attack the EC - the very foundation on which our electoral process hinges. On the very day of the election, a bunch of his supporters were at Dzorwulu claiming their votes were being intercepted. It took ex-pres Obasanjo to calm tempers only for all to discover that it was a false alarm. Just before the announcement of the results, Nana again claimed his votes has been given to Mahama. When he found out it was a frivolous case, Afari-Guan asked him to take it to court. Though all external observers said the elections was fair, the Npp displayed placards in parliament that read " Stealers". But on the very day of the trial, 'stealing' was changed to ' irregularities' because after all "you and I were not there. Where on this human earth could there be an election without irregularities. And what manner of persons would support a man even when they know he is in the wrong. Just before his nomination, Nana is reported to have said this time around they are not going to allow the EC to do what they did in 2012. How different is that from the 'all die be die' mantra? And with guys like Kennedy Agyapong to fuel the flame, when will the discerning ones make their voices to be heard?
