The fact that Bagabaga College of Education was established in 1944, and was one of the oldest educational institutions in northern Ghana, disproves the myth being peddled around that Nkrumah introduced Education into the North. In fact, Western Education was introduced into the North long before Kwame Nkrumah became the prime-minister of the Gold Coast.

Northern leaders like S.D Dombo, Jato Keleo, B.K Adama, Tolon Naa, Bawumia and many others might have even completed their education and started their careers long before Nkrumah was brought to the Cold Coast from UK to serve as a General Secretary of the group that was fighting for our independence.

I was really disappointed to see Mr. Mahama plying dirty politics by honoring Nkrumah where he shouldn't be honored at all because; he didn't have anything to do with BAC. Mr. Mahama by his action is perpetuating the myth that Nkrumah civilized Northers by introducing Education to them. Even the much talked about free education that Mr. Mahama himself enjoyed was put forward by S.D Dombo as a political bargain for the unitary state and not any initiative by Nkrumah to civilize Northern Ghanaians.

It is wrong for the EC to select electoral officers outside the teaching profession. This is what is done in all civilised democracies. The reason is obvious. They are literate enough to understand the rules of the electoral process and eliminate any probability of biased selection. Teachers are also aware of their professionalism and integrity expected of them.

The minority parties should not allow this abnormally to continue if the EC has not reverted to the normal system where teachers supervise as electoral officers. This is one area minority need to insist for implementation for elections for all Ghanaians to trust the electoral system.

If Ken Agyapong does not trust that anything the EC does is fair, would he then reject the results of the NPP Primaries that the EC supervised?

After all, we heard that the total tally of the NPP Primaries was 101%. How delirious! Why didn't Ken lead a front to reject the results? At least, he could have called for re-count. Having berated Alan Kyeremateng before the Primaries, had Alan called for any action that would overturn the win for Ken's favorite candidate, Akufo-Addo, because of that anomaly in the Voting tally, what would have Ken said?

There is no point in continuing to blame Afari Gyan for the results of the last Elections and undermine any efforts of his to do his duty, while he is still in Office. If the NPP did not like Afari Gyan to continue in his Office after the SC Petition hearing, it should have presented a strong request to the Parliament or the Judiciary to drop Afari Gyan from the EC.

However, it seems there was no legal justification for anyone to drop the guy. Now, all the NPP could do is pray for his resignation before the 2016 Elections.

He should be advised by the party heads because anytime he speaks the party loses not less than 10 electorates.
