The era of spiritual churches and their prophets, apostles, etc in West Africa began in Nigeria. The following is a true Nigerian story that happened in 1981 while I was there. The rivalry between two so-called prophets who claimed to be Jesus Christ became so heated that they challenged each other to a "who is who" duel at a designated venue to authenticate their wild claim. I could not follow this newspaper story that generated so much public interest to its conclusion because the story itself seemed so surreal that it was like reading the script of a scene from a syfy movie. It's so sad to think that millions of West Africans especially from Ghana and Nigeria fall victim to the lies and deception of fake spiritualists. The Bible talks a lot about these men but because African Christians are not Bible reading Christians they always fall victim to such pretenders. "But there was a certain man, called Simon, which ....used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one". (Acts 8:9). "There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or a sorcerer, or a witch,11. Or a charmer with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. (Deuteronomy 18:10, 11). Until we start getting real, think with our brains and work with hands and body muscles many people who listen to and believe the gospel of prosperity will continue to be deceived, deluded and disappointed . To eliminate poverty the principle of work must be taught and re-taught until we all come to the unity of the principle. There's not a better alternative to working with our brains and brawn.
