Citizens will do what they want or break laws if our leaders can't enforce the laws of the state, then what is the essence of governance in our dear country? It is time we look at this man made environmental pollution discourse in spiritual terms( Muslim , Christian, animist, and all), for Ghanaians to understand. We are so religious , so this may finally hit home . As a son of a 'preacher man', I think the religious institutions, ( as with all non - religious) must be co-opted to spread the 'gospel of environmental and spiritual cleanliness'. This should be a concerted effort by all who want to go to 'heaven' Living in filth cannot be next to godliness. Ghanaians need to rethink issues of sustainability in our own words , for example. We should go back to understanding who we are through our traditional mythologies , that guided us for millennia, and promoted good practices that held our communities together . We are running away from Who we are, and have lost our 'spiriual' ( not religious) underpinnings. My people, we have lost our identity and its clearly visible in our eyes, our discourse and lack of civility amongst others. If you do not believe me, see the barrage of insults I will receive after this,post.hahahahah it is really shocking, that instead of cogent, sophisticated responses to our condition, through proper discourse and then ACTION! we resort to knee jerk reactionary insults. From where I sit, Ghana deserves the leadership it gets . Why would the good Lords bless us with GREAT governance and true prosperity, when we do not work for it and recognize the need to always become better as 'renters on this planet'. Our country is a gift from our forebears, and we are given a short lease, then we have no choice but to move on. Anuanom, lets educate ourselves, not only through the western formal, but recognize that 'native intelligence' trumps all. I coined a word many years ago, to describe how we can be creative in solving our problems and growing and improving the economic, social and political space in Ghana . Let's be all 'INNO-NATIVE'(tm)

Why do they fill them with trash, well because the government does not enforce trash collecion. The fire that took so many innocent lives, who is at fault, again, the government, if proper procedures would have been followed such a thing would not have been possible. At the moment what we have in Ghana is the perception that corruption pays, crime pays. The signals Ghanaians are getting is that you can steal state funds and there will be no punishment; you can get away with it. Why? because Woyome has got away with it; after all no one is telling us our monies have been recovered despite the court orders.

Take Isofoton (ablakwa's baby project of ripping Ghana off by acting as judement debt collector for iSOFOTON instead of acting as a minister).
Then take Gyeeda, Sada, Suba, Rlg, Zoomlion waterville, GFA scandal; Ankrah the minister of Sports was promoted to the Flagstaff house despite unresolved allegations against him.

The members of parliament, according to the constitution (1992) should declare their assets with a view of fighting against corruption. To date, not even the president has declared his assets; not to talk about fosu kwaakye, ablakwa fifi kwetey and others.

So for those of us looking in from outside the political parties, it is a free for all law breaking bad ass country. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT AND HOW DARE YOU STATE THAT WE ARE ALL TO BLAME? The people of Ghana are just taking a queue from their leaders. How come most Mps instead of representing their constituencies in parliament are now obsessed with becoming petrol station owners by proxy? They are all too busy making money and stealing just in case they get kicked out of office in 2016. All they think about is ELECTIONS, ELECTIONS, ELECTIONS, and how to bribe their way into winning. They don't give a fuck about Ghanaians or the reasons they were given the vote - to fulfil the numerous promises like 200 new secondary schools when you cannot even afford to pay the current crop of working teachers for 6 months.

This is the sad state of affairs in Ghana so don't come to the platform, get a hand on the microphone and spew nonsense.

I agree with you to an extend that we should blame ourselves for the floors. That of the the fire outbreak, I put it squarely on the regulatory body mandated to check and that is NPA. A leakage of an underground tank, checks of pumps and nozzles of tubes at the filling stations are the work of NPA. Leakage from any container starts gradually and builds up before it blows out of proportion. The PRO of NPA claims that they visit pumps at least three time in a year to check filling stations. It is not true. First, visit filling stations with the same container to buy a measured fuel and you will pay different prices. Again, the distance covered by your car for a specific quantity paid for do not remain the same. For good price fuel, motorists tend to buy fuel from specific pumps all because of the quantity and quality served at specific fuel pumps. I think our NPA work is to work to increase prices of fuel to make margins for their agents.

In this time and age, who constructs open gutters and drains? You want the cheap way out, it becomes very costly. Why is it that there are no trash receptacles littered across the whole country for the collection of waste and rubbish? You provide that and you educate the masses to dump their trash in those receptacles to be collected. Why is it that, the metropolitan and district assemblies are not provided with the funds although taxes are collected for the collection and treatment of waste? You don't steal the funds for such activities but you disburse it routinely and on time so the waste departments of the metropolitan and district assemblies can either contract waste management companies to collect the waste and rubbish overnight which provides employment and is done in the developed countries of which most of these so-called leaders have lived and schooled before and is a matter of routine and they have seen before, witnessed it before and on their numerous trips with their concubines with state looted funds witness everyday or they collect it themselves. Why is it that waste is not turned into wealth? You devise policies and programs that makes waste collection and processing a money making venture which requires thinking, a function of governance and leadership. Why does construction supposedly take place on waterways? Leadership allows construction to occur on waterways as a result of incompetence, irresponsibility, negligence, plain ineptitude, lawlessness and corruption.
Who then do we blame? We blame the failed leadership and the failed gov't of the John Dramani Mahama NDC party.
How do we fix it?
We fix it by firing the clueless, incompetent, looting and irresponsible gov't out for one that knows what it is about and can get the job done.

Many in thus country lack Artificial Intelligence, now the natural one, that one wisdom and can only be given by God, however there is this other intelligence that is freely accessible, that intelligence is on the streets, in the libraries, through nature and with a little bit of humility and patience one can acquire that intelligence called Artificial Intelligence. It is the intelligence of knowing how a system works and applying Agents' with the know how to fix, maintain, and anticipate future occurrences. Now this Artificial Intelligence is missing in our system, creating costly systemic errors. Nobody knows how to do anything anymore in Ghana. We need to restructure our primary, secodary and Tertiary educational curriculum to include Environmenta Studies , Civics, and Artificial Intelligence retrospectively and wait 15 years to see the change in Attitudinal posture of Ghanaians,which will reflect in maximal results in all aspects of our lives. At the moment, we are dumb, noisy and being exploited. .. sadly it is the case.
