Afoko should be lucky that he has merely been suspended for all the own goals he has been deliberately scoring against the NPP just for his 'brother'Northner to continue to misrule Ghana. He Afoko himself, when his fellow Northner disagreed with him what happened? His brother Gregory poured acid on him and killed him. Paul Afoko cannot say he knows nothing about this. In the NDC in 1996, when Veep Arkaah disagreed with them, Rawlings physically beat him at a Cabinet Meeting. Ewe Rawlings also killed Akan Heads of States and later also tormented President Mills to his death. Nobody in Ghana said that was anti Akan. PV Obeng used all his life ignorantly supporting the Ewe Anti Akan cause. When the NDC lost power in 2000, he was abandoned. In a fragrant disregard of the provisions of the procurement law, the Ministry of Health has awarded a ¢335million contract to Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy, a failed presidential hopeful now Communication Director of the Akufo Addo Campaign. The contract is for a consultancy service and Mr. Arthur Kennedy is expected '' to assess the readiness of health facilities for accreditation by the National Health Insurance Council '' in hundred days.
According to the contract, Dr Arthur Kennedy is to earn ¢50million (GH¢5,000) whilst his driver takes ¢4million (GH ¢400) as per diem. With regards to accommodation, the consultant will take ¢100million (GH¢10,000) and his driver will go for ¢30million (GH¢3,000).
Signed on 9th May this year, the contract enjoins the consultant not to disclose any confidential information. ''The Consultants shall not, during the term of the contract and within two years after its expiration , disclose any proprietary or confidential information relating to the services , this contract or the clients business or operations without the prior written consent of client'', clause six (6) of the contract headed confidentiality states . But today, this paper begins an exposure of the clear case of procurement law abuse in favour of rewarding NPP faithfuls and sympathizers. Dr. Arthur Kennedy confirmed in an interview that the contract was not taken through National Competitive Tendering (NCT) as stipulated in the Public Procurement Act 2003 (Act 663).
'' I don't know if I applied for the contract. I told them because I visited some of the hospitals and got to know the problems they were facing. They (Ministry of Health) asked me if I could help and I agreed'' he said.

Even as they bad-mouth him publicly, I sincerely hope they carefully ponder what he has written and work out how they might secretly adopt what he has to say, for their own sake; because he makes a lot of sense. Don't trust me because I said so, fellow NPPians; just take off the blinkers, read what he has written and ponder it dispassionately. When he was contesting the party flagbearership, he knew he would lose widely, being a Fante in the middle of a strong tribal group. If they had tried to disqualify him or reject his application, all hell would have broken lose.
Arthur is not a triballist. He is only in NPP because he hates JJ. Arthur was a student leader at Tech when JJ came to power. Due to his persistent disagreement with JJ and fear of arrest he fled to the US where he got his physician education.
In short, the NPP is a tribal group that has been infiltrated by an outsider whom they have to deal with.

The NPP elder whose petition led to the suspension of the party's National Chairman says every effort to get Paul Afoko to listen to wise council failed hence the unprecedented move.
One of the two petitioners, Alhaji Yirimea, who moved to get the party chairman suspended, has revealed that a delegation of NPP Council Members tried to prevail on Paul Afoko at the residence of another Council Elder Ama Busia.
“They met 18 times, 18 times to try to bring sanity into the thinking of Afoko but to no avail” Alhaji Sulemana Yirimea explained on Joy FM Super Morning Show Monday.
Paul Afoko became the first National Chairman to be suspended from the party since it was formed in 1992.
The decision was taken last Friday at an emergency National Executive Committee meeting at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
The party says Paul Afoko failed to answer to two petitions against him at the party’s Disciplinary Committee hence the recommendation to suspend him.
Tracing the beginnings of Afoko's woes, a petitioner Alhaji Sulemana Yirimea said it began soon after National Officers were elected in Tamale in April 2014.
The National Chairman showed signs of things to come when barely five months later in August, the National Chairman and the General Secretary sacked Deputy Communications Director Perry Okudzeto and other party officers.
The decision by the National Chairman was in clear breach of the party's constitution and laid down structures and conventions, Alhaji Yirimea maintained. But National Council Member said Paul Afoko was forgiven because they thought he was new and bound to make some mistakes.
“We felt because Afoko and the other executives were new to the processes as time went on they would pick up”.
He explained that in the NPP, before any decision to appoint or dismiss any officer, a party officer has to consult, “Get the consensus before you go out there and put it to the public.”
In the case of Perry Okudzeto, the NPP Council Member explained that the party had invested time and money to train him in the UK where he studied party administration.
Often privately, Paul Afoko would agree with the party elder’s advice to refrain from using the media to resolve internal problems but in no time, the chairman would disregard this directive.
There is no personal vendetta against Paul Afoko, Alhaji Yirimea insisted arguing the decision was taken purely in the interest of the party.
Consistently, the NPP Elders heard “outrageous remarks by Afoko and his surrogates, compelling us to take this action”
“If one individual seems to rock the boat, it is better to remove that single person to allow the boat to sail smoothly to success,” the Upper East native stressed.
He said some elders from that region led by the Chairman of the National Council of Elders, CK Tedam, has tried to meet with the Chairman at the regional level since Mr. Afoko also comes from the Upper East but rebuffed their attempts.
According to Alhaji Yirimea, an emisary sent to talk to the Sandema native after he ignored their invitation was told the Chairman was too busy to meet with him.

Dear Dr. Kennedy: If you were to put aside your beef with certain people and resort to pure objectivity, don't you think that Dr. Afoko should've voluntarily stepped aside the moment his brother was arrested in connection with the acid murder? How does he effectively act as National Chairman when someone so close to him has been accused of murdering a party big wig? In fact, if Dr. Kennedy had the interest of the party at heart, he would've advocated for Afoko to step aside a long time ago.

To me one of the disloyal member of NPP is Dr K. Kennedy. I have watched for a long time and I can conclude that he is a bad example for the elephant family. I personally cannot predict where he belong to. One point he will advising NPP to in a positive direction and at the same time move to a negative direction. I wish Dr Kennedy will look for Dag Heward-Mills book loyalty and disloyalty and read the chapter lessons on loyalty to educate himself.
Loyalty is to the highest authority. If the highest authority within NPP doesn't put their feet down the so called democracy will spoil the party.
The final decision body of the party have spoken and that should be it. There are internal party structure that gives Mr Afoko a chance within 21 days to appeal against this suspension and he must follow else the higher authority should kick him out from the party simple. What has the court of Ghana has to do with this.
Can't doctor Kennedy see that since the inception of mr Afoko the party had not know peace. I expect doctor Kennedy to advice Mr Afoko to accept the suspension for the sake of the party. Now all members are confuse as which direction the party is heading to. You the so called intellectuals have let us down. Doctor K one day it will be your turn and we as members of the party will do the same to you by dividing the party. How can one man take the whole party in ransome?
Can doctor K tell me why Mr Afoko brother poured acid on the late Adam? What was immediate pronouncement of Mr Afoko? He said his brother was innocent only to find out that he was a prime suspect. Do you doctor Kennedy think the people in the area will forgive the Afoko's? Secondly why despite the police know the culprits they have not yet prosecuted them and always on remind? The answer is ndc is waiting to see if Afoko will still be NPP chairman so that they can use his brothers motive against him during campaign time.
I wish friends like you to Afoko will advise him to accept the ruling from the elders of the NPP so as to move the party forward else watch that majority of the members will join other parties rather than ndc. To me the behaviour of the so called educated elites is like a child playing in the sand. Sometimes is better not to be too educated. The confusion in NPP is a blessing in disguise. Please don't get me wrong because I'm not anti-NPP. I'm a floating voter settling down on NPP just like many others, YES many others. Let's regard the voice of the Lord the voice of the people and not the other way around. The confusion is just one of those tactics the devil uses when God is trying to speak to His children. Ghana needs our prayers as much as NPP.
Now it is widely accepted that Nana Addo is competent as against the visible incompetence all over. Imagine Ghana with a competent leader and each minister serving as a watchdog over the other. A country where everyone is on his or her toes and recognises that one can be relieved of one's duties if found to be under performing. Let's all recognise this as a breeding-ground for transparency. Now we all know all NPP bank accounts and even how much each contains.
The wind of change is blowing in the sub-region. Let us not be left out. Ghana is crying and yearning to be restored to her proper place in the sub-region and the world at large. It's our collective responsibility.

Prior to the election of the flag-bearer this group could be seen as opposing Nana Akuffo-Addo. It was their right. It made a lot of noise and created the impression through the media that its protege had massive support. Its preferred candidate(s) obtained less than 10% of the electoral votes. The decent thing the Group should have done was to throw its weight behind the winner. No, it didn't. It has continued to say unpleasant things and undermined every action of Nana Akuffo-Addo. Is this how democracy works? Arthur K and his group are creating and fanning the impression that there is division that the division is being caused by Nana Akuffo-Addo. First, he talks about, "if some in the NPP want to remove Afoko, rather than fight the 2016 elections, let them follow procedure laid down for impeachment".
The 2016 elections as far as Ghanaians are concerned, is not a "fight", but a contest of ideas, a contest of intelligence, a contest of competence, a contest of vision, a contest of an ability to deliver on the socio-economic development goals of this country, a contest of incorruptibility that delivers growth, development and opportunities for all Ghanaians. So right of the bat, Arthur K has got it wrong in his thinking about what the 2016 elections is about.
Secondly, he talks about removal of Afoko and impeachment.
Is it Arthur K's considered opinion that, having read the constitution of the NPP, the indiscretions that have occasioned the suspension of Paul Afoko albeit indefinitely, are impeachable? Surely that cannot be the case and if it is, that is another matter that can be interrogated when Arthur K takes the reasonable decision to educate himself as to what would trigger outright impeachment and suspension, because, we would not want to believe, there is any gray area between the two. It is a very clear construct, very much easily understood by anybody who avails his mind to actually articulate an informed opinion based on the facts as captured in the constitution of the NPP, and not an emotive piece that strangulates the issues and places it squarely within the confines of conjecture and conclusions based on false and unsubstantiated premises.
Secondly, Arthur K talks about the takeover of the NPP by CPP elements with Freddie Blay now the acting Chair of the NPP and Kwaku Baako, leading the public relations case for a supposed coup,(his words) and this translating to NPP falling from it's lofty heights and a deviation from the rule of law.
That coming from Arthur K, would have made sense once again when taken on the face of it, but this position advanced by Arthur K is totally wrong and obfuscates the issues.
The NPP party if he has been following it very well and not close-minded and xenophobic, would realize, it is a very open tent, and accepts every Ghanaian from every stripe of political ideology or leaning, social standing or economic status, religious belief or creed, gender or sex, to come in and contribute with their competence, their knowledge and their intelligence to help bring the needed growth and development to the suffering people of Ghana. This is what saw Prof. Hagan of the CPP in the gov't of President Agyekum Kufuor. This is what saw Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom of the CPP in the gov't of President Kufuor. This is what saw the Prof. Badu Akosa of the CPP in the gov't of President. Kufuor. So to suggest that, very well accomplished CPP men, who see the NPP as a very viable and capable party to advance the socio-economic development and growth objectives of this country and thus, having pitched their camp with the NPP party, as a takeover of the NPP party, is a huge deviation from commonsense and reality in terms of forming a winning strategy in politics. It is totally xenophobic and racist. It is not surprising Arthur K, could not win a parliamentary seat somewhere in the Central region, when he stood for it some years ago.
It also flies in the face of Arthur K's own condemnation of the NPP and Akufo Addo of closing off the party to other voters who necessarily do not subscribe to the NPP tradition and it's ideals he so much accuses the NPP party of. One wonders, what Arthur K really wants because Arthur K cannot eat his cake and have it too. It just does not work that way.
Thirdly, it is interesting Arthur K's fascination with impeachment, and his continuous reference to it, and it is quite curious when one attempts to reconcile what he describes as lawlessness and the procedure which finally led to the suspension of Paul Awentami Afoko, which was based on complaints filed by members of the NPP party with sound minds and totally capable of taking the decision they took, in the interest of the NPP party. Is it the case Arthur K does not know or cannot distinguish between impeachable conduct and one that leads to suspension? It is quite outrageous and at the same time sad for one who sees or credits himself as an intellectual light(sic) purportedly, on everything NPP and politics.

It is a very strong suggestion to Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy and if he is minded by the irresponsibleness of his statement, Ghanaians and Northerners are of the conviction, he would be obliged to take this suggestion very, very, very seriously, more seriously than his reckless and often times irresponsible statements.
Fourthly it must be reiterated rather strongly, again, that nowhere were the actions taken to suspend Paul Afoko incongruous or at variance with the law and the constitution of the NPP of conduct liable for suspension, and for Arthur K to impugn on the integrity of the process is not only disrespectful of the various bodies tasked with exercising the necessary disciplinary actions in the party, it is an insult to the individuals on those councils and committees, and very much grossly irresponsible and absolute carelessness of the most unsophisticated kind to be egregious, because Arthur Kobina Kennedy cannot begin to hold himself out as the most intelligent or leading light in the NPP, most especially when it has never been demonstrated on any platform within the context of party and national politics.
Finally, Arthur K talked about Peter McManu vis-à-vis his tenure during the era of President Kufuor and how he worked with him even when he was not President Kufuor's preferred choice. The catch here was Peter Mcc Manu worked with President Kufuor, he followed NPP party structures, procedures and laws, he followed the constitution of the NPP, he did the work of the NPP to move the NPP party forward and thus created a healthy environment for the NPP party and not President Kufuor, but the NPP party and gov't to achieve it's vision for this country within a short time span of 8 years.
Can the same to said of Paul Afoko? Arthur k should not compare tangerines to water melons here, because it is a very hollow and altogether unintelligent and the most stupid position yet ever, to be advanced by him since he burst onto the Ghanaian political landscape and it is needless.
It is the utterances of Arthur Kobina Kennedy bothering on the pale(two mere Northern tokens)is what creates the impression, NPP is unhospitable to non-Akans and other voters of different political persuasion(Freddie Blay and Kwaku Baako).
The NPP party should condemn in no uncertain terms the xenophobic, racist, ethnocentric and insulting language of Arthur Kobina Kennedy and the NPP party should dissociate itself from everything Arthur Kobina Kennedy for such xenophobic and racist predisposition.

If it is, Alhaji Sulemana Yirimea would fit for one of the greatest hypocrite in Ghana's political history. And the Akufo-Addo's camp would have committed yet another irreparable blunder to hurt the Party further.
How could a confessed mass murderer like Yirimea walking free now have the temerity to demand the suspension of Afoko for the part reason that Afoko's brother is alleged to have been implicated in the murder of Adams?
It is not Afoko himself that has been targeted for prosecution of Adams murder. Why would he have to be pun unused for his brother's alleged crime? The irony is lost on me! A confessed murderer now becomes the solicited petitioner for the punishment of someone whose brother is even yet to be found guilty of a murder?
This is one of the reasons why many believe Akufoo-Addo loves the violence in Politics, the thugs who unleash the atrocities, and may be quietly instigating the vicious brutalities occurring in NPP from behind a curtain.
Getting this murderer Yirimea lead the petition to suspend Afoko because of Adams' murder of which Afoko may be totally innocent smells like the NPP flag bearer's usual silence in the violent machete and guns assault on Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong at the Party Hqts. Similarly, Akufo-Addo kept mum over Kennedy Agyepong's accusation of President Kufuor, Mpiani and others of masterminding Adams' murder. Where was Akufo-Addo when the Talensi violence erupted? What peaceful admonishment did he give those involved?
All these and his "yen Akanfo de..'all die be die'.." Mantra fit the gig saw of Akufo-Addo's proclivity to violent politics, especially if he does not get his way.
And by the way, could it be a mere recurrent coincidence that anytime any big chaotic incidence befalls the NPP, Akufo-Addo would have just left the country? If you asked me, I would suspect a thinly veiled attempt on his part to physically dissociate himself from a vicious incident whose initial plotting he might have just been part of. A very lousy way to assume complete innocence of such disruptive acts in the NPP. A person like that is most dangerous to be any Nation's President.
