Onzy should be educated that Kotoka deserves to be named after the international airport. But for him, Ghana would have been like North Korea or zimbabwe by now with a one man running every show. His father was a dictator who never had a vice president. He arrested and imprisoned even some people from his own party who were afraid of him. Gbedemah had to flee the country for his life. J.B Danquah died in prison. Busia had to run away too. His desire to be the Prez of Africa made Ghana almost go bankrupt at his time. The fight for independence had started before he was invited to join it. Not everything in Ghana should be named after Nkrumah. Kotoka liberated Ghana from a one party rule, oppression and President for life arbitrary dictatorship. Onzy should finally be asked to find Ghanaians jubilated when his father was overthrown.

Hmmmm, some of these critics of President Nkrumah talk as if he was the only Head of State who detained opponents in Prison. What about the PNDC Government led by J.J. Rawlings, which executed 3 former Heads of State and murdered 3 High Court Judges. I don't recall democracy thriving under the PNDC Regime or other Military Regimes in Ghana. As for the old argument of imposing a One Party State. Is that not what J.J. Rawlings has imposed on Ghana? The Chair of the PNDC, founded the NDC which has ruled Ghana for all but 8 years since 1992. Every Election since 1992, has been viewed as being rigged and currently there remains doubts that there will be free & fair Elections in 2016. We are currently living in a One Party State governed by the NDC which was founded by a Military Dictator. With regards to the exile of Dr Busia this occurred in 1972, six years after the overthrow of the CPP Government in 1966. Therefore, how you can link this to the CPP Government is beyond me. There was nothing preventing Dr Busia from returning to live in Ghana after fleeing into exile. He chose to remain living in Britain as a Lecturer at Oxford University. Ironically, the person that ensured that Dr Busia had a safe passage when he fled from Ghana to live in Britain was a former Minister of State in the CPP Government, the late Mr Krobo Edusei. If you doubt my claim ask anyone who personally know Nana Addo who happens to be a childhood friend of Yaw Krobo Edusei (a son of the late Krobo Edusei). The family house of Alan 'Cash' is located next door to the family house of Mr Krobo Edusei, in the suburb of Mbrom, Kumasi, and he would be support my claim that Dr Busia, was able to flee into exile because of the assistance he received from the late Mr Krobo Edusei.

The Osagyefo was invited from London to Ghana to work for Dr J.B. Danquah and Co. His love for Ghana and Ghanaians as a foremost Pan Africanist pushed him to want to work for Ghana and Ghanaians instead of his paymasters who actually were paying him salary – I mean Dr. J.B. Danquah and Co.
The Osagyefo became so popular to the annoyance of his paymasters. There was a break-away. The Osagyefo did not annoy his paymasters alone, but equally the Colonial administration. He was in prison when the first election for self-government was held and his CPP collected almost 70% of the votes. This is very notable for a man in prison and the election conducted by the Colonial administration who were not his friends. Dr Nkrumah remained a pan-africanist throughout his presidency. This was a fledgling new democracy and only fewer officials were needed to implement his vision. He boasts of single-handedly vetting every single invoice in the construction of the Akosombo Dam.
He invited his former paymasters to join him in governance, but they prefer to be in opposition even to the point of petitioning the British Government that Ghana was not ready for INDEPENDENCE YET! The British Monarch did not oblige. With 70% majority, how could Dr Nkrumah be a dictator? Should the man with the mandate be doing the bidding of the minority? Sadly though, Dr Nkrumah claims that Dr J.B. Danquah and Co were tried by a competent Court in Ghana and were sentenced to death. It was Dr Nkrumah who commuted their sentence to life imprisonment. In the subsequent declassified papers from U.S.A, there were ever present threats to kill him or topple him. In his time, he was accused of paranoia and despotism. When he was eventually toppled in a coup de tat, it was no longer a case of paranoia? Was the threat to kill Dr Nkrumah as he claimed throughout his presidency real?
The US Senate declared The Osagyefo the African of the Century following on which his birthday became a National Holiday in Ghana. Lt. General Kotoka received enormous help to topple Dr Nkrumah to halt his match for the total emancipation of the African continent, even if it was a dream. Notable African presidents, the contemporaries of the Osagyefo did not remain in office for terms. H.E. Felix Houphouet-Boigny (Ivory Coast) H.E. Kenneth Kaunda (Zambia) H.E. Julius Nyerere (Tanzania) to name a few were all Life presidents.
The Osagyefo had paymasters in Ghana, but he was destined to work for Ghana and beyond the wildest dream of his paymasters. IS THIS THE HALL-MARK OF A DICTATOR?
Dr Nkrumah has few places and institutions named after him, one International Airport of Ghana eluding him is great shame. Dr Nkrumah is certainly not infallible, but to reward the man whose only act of recognition apart from being a Military Officer of good standing was to halt the progress of Ghana being rewarded with such a great place is incomprehensible.
Ghana has now got a great president in H.E. John Dramani. May his reign be long, peaceful and prosperous for Ghana.

He was the worst tyrant and his evil rule was such that after killing all his opponents his own CPP men led by brave Tawiah Adamafio tried to kill him at Kulungugu.

Trokosis would have named Kuffour WISDOM when the ex.prez, in his own wisdom and visionary leadership, saw the need to rename Accra and Kumass stadia after the soccer legends, Ohene-Gyan and Baba Yara(a Hausa name which can literally be translated as Big Baby or Children's Father ) .
How beautiful it was; but wait.
Tarkwa Atta (Prof Mills) and Rawlings (The self proclaimed ambassador of Justice) sat down unconcerned for the Trokosi minted NDC to hide behind Oko Vandapuye and GA Traditional Council to revert Ohene-Gyan Stadium back to Accra Sports Stadium. And, as if the Accra Sports Stadium belong to Gas, the reason adduced to that foolish decision was that Ohene-Gyan was not a Ga.

Would the NDC do same in Kumasi? Big No! To them, it was okay to impose a Northerner on the Asantes. What is refreshing is that God made the Asantes so unique that they won't tolerate such nonsense. They recognize Baba Yara as one of their own and a hero who deserved what he got. I understand they have named one park in Asawase , Muntaka Pamper's jurisdiction in Kumasi, after Coach Dogo Moro, formerly of Kumasi Asante Kotoko. That is what the Asantes can do. Unlike some tribal idiots in Ghana, they wonderful accept every tribe, and have live with all tribes since time immemorial. I am so proud to have blood relations with the Great Asantes.

Yes I agree with you that Ghana premiere Airport should be named after Dr Kwame Nkrumah for his immense contributions to Ghana socio-economic developments. Kotoka is not a Ghanaian. Ewes from Volta Region are from Togo and was part of German Togoland and when Hitler was defeated in the Second World War, Germany former colonies were taken over by the Allies as the spoils of war. The Allies-UK asked DR Kwame Nkrumah if he wanted that part of Togo-Volta Region to become part of the then Gold Coast and Dr Nkrumah agreed and there was the TRAITOR and THIEF-INWARD LOOKING Ewe Kotoka, who Nkrumah trusted and educated and promoted him and Kotoka betrayed Dr Nkrumah

Lets not pretend that the Kotoka was a liberator. Look, Nkrumah came into power just as the colonials were leaving. What was expected and needed was that loyalty and direction. So in as much as people were jailed which included my own grandfather it was a necessary evil in order for his good works which all of us in Ghana can attest to be realised. Did he have his bad sides absolutely, could he have done things differently maybe but it is undeniable that he worked greatly to the betterment of Ghana. Does the airport deserve to be called Kwame Nkrumah International I 110% agree for the CIA funded Kotoka does not deserve to be remember in the history of our dear country as anybody good. Him and Afrifa are a disgrace to Ghana and their actions are what has brought Ghana to where it is today.

Kwame Nkrumah was the best and visionary leader we had at that time until the late fathers and the uncles of the leaders of today NPP who connived with bad soldiers like General IK Kotoka and Akwesi Afrifa backed by the CIA and the western countries to violently boot Kwame Nkrumah out of power. immediately after this they abandoned all the great works Nkrumah was doing for mother Ghana. they sold our atomic energy plant to the Americans. They looted state properties for themselves the same way the NPP did between 2001 and 2009. they never did anything good for Ghana except destructions and persecution of CPP activists. during those days it was deemed treasonable for one to read books written by Kwame Nkrumah or listen to radio broadcast from radio Guinea. today as I speak, the leader of the elephants has disposed of the share of his late fathers loot and squandered on his 'all die be die' bid for the presidency which never materialized. he is now pleading with poor Ghanaians who never enjoyed the kind of loot his late father to donate for him so that he uses that donation for his desperate ambition to become a president. I swear he will never get that chance because he is paying for the sins of his late father against mother Ghana.
