Coal plants are e xtremely serious environmental hazard to the local population. It will increase mercury content in the air. Mercury leads to increase in diabetes and coal dust ,breathing problems. The Chinese have very little regard for environmental effects of coal plants in their own country , let alone Ghana. There are other and better options to be seriously considered.

This happens when useless politicians think that they can take Ghana for a ride.They started with Nuke programms and saw its devastating effects, instead of thinking of better remedy to solve the energy problems they've now resorted coal plant building which Maama knows very well that it's not good for Ghanas environment.

Why are the chinese not building coal plants instead of hydro dams? l know that they exchanged hands here, and for that sake doesn't care about the effects of building such dangerous coal plants.We who care for mother Ghana will vote NDC out !!!!

dumsor was there before Ghana gain independence in 1957, all previous presidents came without solving it, now mahama is trying to fix the problem, at least thank him for his effort, NDC all the way

Oh Ghana why???????Coal in this day and age????Kudos Dr. Nduom for stating the obvious which I am afraid is not obvious to our leaders.........who in their right minds builds a coal plant to import coal to fuel the plant at an extra cost when there are other options like Solar etc which would not require the additional cost of importing coal to fuel the plant, let alone the health implications on our populace. We need our leaders to make the best decisions for our mother Ghana and our children.....

Why is China importing oil and gas while exporting coal which she has in abundance? Ghana has huge gas deposits in neighboring Saltpond. Please accept loans to develop Ghana's natural resources instead of destroying our health with imported Chinese coal.

The Government should invest in the infrastructure for solar energy. Even Germany, UK and other cold countries that have limited sunshine are investing in solar power. PLEASE MAHAMA do the right thing and invest in solar energy.

China is looking for a country or a place to dump her unwanted and deadly coal. If coal is good to their health, why are countries like UK and China abandoning the use of coal-fired power plants for cleaner energy plants ? The government will use our scarce resources to import the raw material coal. Again, Ghana will spend billions of cedis threading the local people with coal related cronic respiratory diseases. The polluted air environment will not attract tourist to the district. Ghana government should divert or ''swap'' the loan to solar projects in that area instead. The ongoing consultation should include EPA and all the technical professionals.

Extending power to these area comes with multiple costs for the service providers and the state as well. We don't need coal plants. we need to re-plan the towns and cities to accommodate all.

solar is the best to go, Ghana need to ask for help from the U.S. The U.S. built the Akosombo Dam, Solar can be given to the people in the villages as the Akosombo power goes to industries
