It is my duty and yours too,to put all the pressure in the world on our leaders to change course from the self destructive path we find ourselves.Ghana rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue everyweek amounting to close to 100billion dollars every year.So there is no excuse that our children still take classes under tress or in dilapidated and outdated schools and almost half of our citizens in need of medical care to have to travel halve a day on bad roads to reach the nearest clinic.Where does the money go??The civil servants are not paid properly or on time, our security and military forces are poorly paid and illequipped so what do we do with the billions and billions of dollars? We cannot even build our own programs to train our athletes for God's sake so once again can someone tell me what we do with the billion of dollars in annual revenue from the oil and raw material exports, the port revenue, taxes on foreign businesses and imports etc?The government must understand that their corruption and incompetence is leading the country directly towards revolution.

Ghana's track & field athletes failures to make it out of the qualifying rounds in the Rio is a sad commentary on the state of track & field in the country. At this point, the athletes will have to surpass their best performances in order to even qualify for the semi-finals. The nation has to make a commitment to develop a robust national junior level program by improving track & field competitions at the high school level. This is a sport that does not require much in terms funding, unlike a team sport like the national football team that receives the bulk of funding. If a small island nation like Jamaica can produce a bunch of world class sprinters, why can't Ghana?

He didn't 'miss out' that implies he came close. The fact is he came 6th so around the bottom of the heat. So the spin is misleading. Saying someone misses out implies he just missed qualifying. The issue here is that NONE of the athletes that were sent to represent the flag managed to get passed the first heat and actually all came last or close to last so far. Where are the federation presidents? The Minister and National Sports authority has a right to ask for a full open inquiry and demand answers. And they need to be given the mandate by the people and the government to act swiftly to clean it all up. You can't expect results if you have federations that decide who goes and who stays based on who is maleable and less objectionable. In other words nothing to do with talent attitude and results but who they can control, how much they can milk and how many freebies they can go on. It is so so sad. Sports matters because young people are inspire through sports. And it brings in revenue and generally sports heroes are great for commerce, society, stability and nation building and pr for the country. That's why western countries spend money on it and take it seriously. Africa has talent in abundance. You don't even need to throw more money at it. We just need to clean it up and take it seriously and the money will flow towards it. Why do you think African Footballers are commanding million dollar transfers, or Usain bolt gets millions of dollars in sponsorship? It's not that hard to get this right. it just takes the right attitude from the top because self regulation is impossible. 'power tends to corrupt', as Lord Acton said 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely.' the Federation Presidents and GOC have had absolute power with no one having the power to challenge the status quo. Come on Ghana! WE ARE THE BLACK STAR OF AFRICA. WE CAN FLY THE FLAG AND HEAR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, AFRICAN, COMMONWEALTH AND OLYMPIC. BUT WE HAVE TO BE WILLING TO ADMIT THAT WHATEVER HAS BEEN GOING ON IN THE SPORTS FEDERATIONS HAS NOT WORKED AND NEEDS TO CHANGE COMPLETELY.

Yeah Martha proved that and they banned her! The Federation Presidents don't want the athletes to be bigger than them! They are guided by their vanities and their egos instead of just running an organisation for the benefit of the young athletes. Half of them are bitter ex Ghana athletes so they have a lot of baggage. You don't have to send these kids to America. Everyone knows that competition, training and pscyhological attitude makes a difference to a young athlete. Why would you force a 17 year old to leave home and go thousands of miles away where they will be homesick and sad and expect them to be motivated. Not going to happen. They are just kids. For far less money you can develop a domestic programme but not with this lot. First you have to clean house.

I am Ghanaian and i am very much interested in sports of all sort ; football , boxing , atlectics , yoga , gymnastics , etc . One can never compare what sports do to the body than money . So when one is born to be talented in any of these sports l have mensioned , luck has falling on him to live . But thinking of money in sports is a sheer lost of opportunities example of what we experienced in the last world cup , the dilema of Blatter and Platini . We think of money when it comed to the point of lmplemetations in sports but not indvidual gains . One can do sport and to be comprnsated but not to ask for compensation . If one think of money before engaging in sports opportunities are lost . In sports , let the heart . We do not get money in sports , the money comes through sports. Why don't they use money when a winner mount on the podium ? We always thrive to live but not to earn a living . Sports can make you live money can make you earn a living .
