Ghana's problems are entrenched customs and beliefs and a lack of world understanding. Parties come and go but the church must learn to respect the will of the people by remaining neutral.

No one is saying the Clergy ought to condone any wrongdoing by the President. But it is the way some Clergies go about it that raises eyebrows.

Seldom, if ever, did we hear these same Clerics criticize similar lapses in the previous Kufuor Administration. And, please, don't come back to tell us Kufour's Administration was flawless.

Meanwhile, these Clerics hardly offer any proactive suggestions for any Government to improve its performance but only begin to scream when the Economy falters and their offertories dwindle.

Marteys' solution for our Educational lapses, for instance, was just for the Government to hand over the Schools back to the various Churches as was in the Mission Schools days of old, after the Schools have long suffered deprivation.

Had the former Presby Moderator been on top of issues that matter most, he would have long seen the deterioration the Schools were going through and offered a better counsel to the Government. After all, many of the Schools that were structurally falling apart began on that path even before Kufuour and Mahama took over the Presidency.

Academically, Students' performance began falling long before Mahama took over, as they never had a good foundation in their earlier grades, either. Where was Martey, the Moderator, then?

I may sound like just defending Mahama. Not at all. But the Church leaders have largely failed us all. They lost the Congregation to sins long before the Political leaders gained their access to Power. If the Clerics had done a better job at inculcating into their Congregations the essence of morality in Society, we would not have so many Political leaders become so corrupt.

So long as these corrupt leaders fill the Coffers of the Churches, the Clerics keep mum, and would not dare question how these leaders made their overnight financial success.

The era where we see people as not being aware of themselves is gradually passing by and soon, issues of the day or, what is going on in the country will decide the outcome of every election. Forty years ago, do we have chats like this anywhere in Ghana but what we doing now? The world is changing and so are Ghanaians. People are learning as the day, month, year go by and soon, vote buying will be a thing of the past and politicians will have to deliver to win the conscience of the people.

No one needs to send him any receipts of paid membership dues. Such dues could be waived, anyway. He thinks he is smarter than every critic of his.

The plain simple truth is that Martey has long been in league with Akufo-Addo to engender among the Presbyterian and other Christian congregations some angst against all perceived foes of the NPP flagbearer, especially Mahama.

The Cleric should have long been kicked out of the Church. His betrayal of his predecessor Moderator, Frimpong Manso, raised serious questions of his moral stature.

No one should be fooled by his position he held in the Church. He is hardly a peaceful, fair-minded person.

I am glad he is left that position in the Church for a more conciliatory and spiritually inspiring figure to take over. He can, now, well wait for Akufo-Addo's selection of him to a Ministerial post after the Election, should the Akyem Mafia don wins.

rev well spoken, but where were u when akuffo addo said the infamous "all die be die", when kwabena adjapong said all akans should rise up and kill ewes, when osafo marfo said some regions namely the three northern regions and greater Accra should not be president of this country and when bawumia said they needed a Muslim representation in gov. stop this hypocrisy and put on your colours after you are Ghanaian.
