If this is not a bribe what will it be? Guys don't talk about a gift from Ex- Libyan President to Kuffour. The question is if someone is your friend, that person is awarded a contract which is inflated and later spent $100,000 on a gift to the friend. What will you classify this? Let's say the person is not the president of Ghana. You guys are suffering and you are defending this nonsense. When there are too many fools in a country that is the end result.

Besides in all states institutions , amount payable for service is always displayed or stated on the form. You don't just wake up with any stupid statement that, pay this or that. In any case, paying the filings fee into the consolidated account is not the issue.

The troubles in Ghana is the result of ill prepared leaders in many facets of public life. Mr. Dzapkasu, who is one of the leaders of a very important public institution (EC) has too frequently shown evidence of arbitrariness and poor judgement. He is quick to make far reaching statements without thinking them through. A good leader must resist shooting from the hip. Unnecessary misses erode public confidence and create suspicion, both of which work against progress. He should know that what he is saying means the EC is making this regulation to force a situation where there can be only two contestants in the presidential election, because a third candidate who can win 25% of the votes makes the 50% + 1 requirement for victory impossible. By the way, returning fees to only those who make 25% sounds discriminatory, too.

The EC does not know that not every party can get 25%? Even if there are four candidates, how can each get 25% when the winner must get 50% plus one? Where is the logic? EC is very confused.

If they intentionally set the system up to ensure an avoidable run-off, which is a costly exercise, they should be charged with causing financial loss to the state

The matter is simple, if you know you cannot secure 25% or more, just withdraw from the race. Simple!!! Why are those parties crying, if they are not in the race for concert?
