Prof Gyampo did not mice words to acknowledge the young among the team,to say they would be mentored to take over from the old.But he refusd to ask to answer himself, on who will mentor these young inexperienced persons,to ascertain that, the Portfolio of a Senior Minister is needed to oversee,evaluate their target, give a gist of whatever when needed correct them,etc,etc. That's how to mentor.For eg.Imagine an inexperinced Deputy Minister of Finance(Fiifi) leading a Ghana delegation to a Finance Conference outside the Country.He can approach a Senior Minister to help with his presentation. A Harvard graduate (Mahama A) would not have ended a letter of Condolence as a letter of invitation,b'coss there was not a Senior Minister to consult in confidence.Ablakwa would not have talked about his girlfriend to his Ho Poly audience(Students),etc.The purpose of my comment is not meant to demean anyone, but just the plain truth,and the necesity to have a S/Min. Positions in both industry and govt is full of embarrassment. Ask them; they will tell you.Unless one is highly trained with extensive exposure ,one may not even be able to write a simple letter from one Institution to the other without someone's help. So,positions/ post is full of increase in heartbeat, and sleepless nights especially if one has not much Job exposure.And one needed to work in a certain level of capacity to appreciate or believe what I talk about.It's not easy. Therefore, Prof Gyampo doesn't know what he talk about,he's entitled to his opinion,though!. Late Prof Kofi Abrefa Busia,Progress Party(PP) came from exile to win the Presidential election at the time (1970(I stand corrected), to sacked all Civil Servants about 568( chief directors,etc, etc), within a period of a week or two.imagine; without the consideration the role of a Civil Servant in govt or the experienced Chief Directors he needed to do govt business for him to Succeed. The economic ignorance of open Market,to expelled Aliens,etc.Another example is late Prof Atta-Mills(NDC),came from youth submit in Equatorial Guinea to employed young men straight from School who did not have prior work experience of basic office practice,as Minis/Deputy Minister of State and a Senior Minister.The fact is when it comes to office Job, experience do not count and is non of the vocabulary of a Lecturer/Teacher, Soldier/Police, These 3 category of professionals, are the worst administrators(majority). That's why I personally have reservations of a lecturer background, Chief of Staff. Therefore, I am not surprise to read this from another Prof To some of us his assertion is an exhibition of his administrative ignorance or inexperience. The portfolio of a Senior Minister in the person of highly experienced Osafo Marfo,is needed and a decision in the right direction.
