It is not population alone that is considered in creating a region. Culture, tradition and geography also count in creating a region. Sometimes breaking a region is beneficial, especially because of geographical reasons, but sometimes it is a mess.

Look at all the proposed regions to be created, you see some strand of language, culture and traditional differences existing in all. On the contrary, in the case of Ashanti Region for instance you cannot possibly think of breaking it into two for any benefit. Breaking Ashanti would not bring any good to anybody, and also the people there are not asking for it anyway. In the rest of those regions to be created the people there specifically ask for their regions. Take Brong Ahafo where the Ahafo people traditionally are linked to Ashanti. They therefore wish to detach from Brong for their autonomy. Already the region is large enough and does not make for effective administration. Look at Volta region where we have Akans concentrated in one part of the region. Language differences does not help in the administration and mutual coexistence. However, you cannot say the same about the Ashanti region where the people have the same language and the land area also is too small for two regions.

So culture counts as much as the geography and other considerations, if we want to be honest to ourselves.

Yes that was his intention. To make Ashanti landlocked so that we won't find it easy seceding (break away) from now Ghana. Asantes really wanted to be out of gold coast at the time

The Asante Region was divided by Nkrumah in 1959. It was the first region in Ghana to be divided into 2 separate regions. This was how the Brong-Ahafo region was created.

No one in Asante wants to split the region in 2. There must be a groundswell of support for a new region before it can be split into 2. These are the laws that govern region creation. Then there must be a referendum by the people who want a new region

The Akan s in the northern part of Volta have been agitating for a new region for decades. Recently, the northern part of Western region has been doing the same.

If Asante is to be affected at all it will be through the Ahafo part of B/A agitating to re-join Asante

Brong Region should be renamed Tano Region and Ahafo can be renamed Tano South Region. This will suit those Regions and one of these towns can be choose as Regional Capital. Kukuom ,Goaso, Bechem or Kenyasi.

Eastern region was officially split into 2 when Greater Accra region was created out of it by the PNDC. Before that Accra was part of the Eastern region

It is very bad to create a ministry just for creating new regions,which departments will fall under these ministries,Monitoring and Evaluation,what is that,monitor who,evaluate who,what kind of foolishness is that?

Looking at the large number of people appointed outside parliament to head key positions shows most NPP MPs are useless,they are not qualified people which means NPP will have to stop the delegate electoral process to elect people who will not pay bribe to enter parliament,quality is better than quantity,the large quantity they have in parliament is just chaff.

Tano Region would be a dream come truth to honour our leader who died mysteriously through a car accident. He's no other than Dr. Asafo Adjei from Goaso. These constituencies would constitute Tano Region: Asutifi North, Asutifi South, Asunafo North, Asunafo South, Tano East, Tano North, and Tono South all in Brong Ahafo Region and Ahofa Ano North. Ahafo Ano South East and Ahafo Ano South West in Ashanti Region. All these areas are under the Asante traditional council and had nothing to do with traditional alliance. It's about time.
