Few people can afford three square meals in Ghana, but in the United States, majority of the people can afford three square meals, due to the availability of cheaper GMO foods. The life expectancy in Ghana is less than 60 years, but in the U.S, life expectancy is around 73 years, despite the consumption of GMO foods. What needs to be done is the establishment of a good regulatory framework, that can technically manage the introduction of GMO foods on our markets. Although, as Dr. Akoto put it, we may be consuming GMO foods already, with the development of taste for foreign food imports, by affluent Ghanaians. Please check the oatmeal label in your kitchen cabinet, Mr. Anti GMO poor Ghanaian, if it's not made from GMO foods from China!
