Even to differentiate between an irrigation dam and a dam was a problem for him to outrightly answer. If these are the so called competent people to make Ghana heaven then I pity Ghana.

There is absolutely, nothing wrong with GMO foods, except being GMO. Few people can afford three square meals in Ghana, but in the United States, majority of the people can afford three square meals, due to the availability of cheaper GMO foods. The life expectancy in Ghana is less than 60 years, but in the U.S, life expectancy is around 73 years, despite the consumption of GMO foods. What needs to be done is the establishment of a good regulatory framework, that can technically manage the introduction of GMO foods on our markets. Although, as Dr. Akoto put it, we may be consuming GMO foods already, with the development of taste for foreign food imports, by affluent Ghanaians. Please check the oatmeal label in your kitchen cabinet, Mr. Anti GMO poor Ghanaian, if it's not made from GMO foods from China!

One village one dam in the savannah north all the way. !! Agriculture is the foundation of developed societies. See how the introduction of Cocoa framing by our colonial masters in the Gold Coast has created wealth and educated thousands of Ghanaians and sustained our economic progress?
If we can turn our Savannah zones green to have year round farming our Northern siblings can create wealth for them selves like Cocoa farmers in our southern regions.

Do you know that imported corn/ maize and it products are GM to protect them against the ear-worm?

Most pressure groups in Africa I think are rather against the use of the SILENCING GENE which is a patent/"plagiarism" control measure.
