Who buys a car for 800 Cedis? In 2008/early 2009, the Cedi was not yet redenominated so the Old Cedis were being used. Therefore, buying a car for even a 1,000 Cedis then is still STEALING from the state—regardless whether it was NPP or NDC or KKK.

This stupid practice MUST be STOPPED, so (A) That all state vehicles MUST be returned, when government changes hands, and those officials should go to the REAL Market and buy their own cars or (B) That if the practice would be continued, then "ACTUAL MARKET VALUE" of those vehicles must be assessed for those officials and not given to them at HUGE discounted prices. That’s very unfair to the average Ghanaian.

Look at how much Ghanaians abroad pay at the TEMA harbor to clear just one vehicle (car), not counting how much the person bought the car and shipped it. Are you standing or sitting, Mr. Akomea??

Using the VIN will give you 3 accurate values based on the condition of the car. The bottom line is car should be made available to all Ghanaians if selling I am sure farmers could use pickups too. The policy is being abused and needs to be scrapped. The NPP also needs to review the car giveaways to chiefs for political gains. We need transparency, put all out in the open.

It's unfortunate we do make comments on issues we have less knowledge about. First of all, what should asking is: (1). Should governments V8 cars are to be bought by their users? (2). What is the depreciation policy of the government (3). What is the policy for disposing of used government cars (4). Is the policy being used by the STC current or outmoded. I think we will all begin to make informed contributions in this regard than to attack and insult ourselves without making any meaningful contributions to issues of national interest.
