We have good and matured President,we have functioning government and we have 110 ministers working on our bahalf. so what are you waiting to stop this environmental degredation,polution and destruction forced upon us?Are foreigners breaking the law so powerful in our country that, the government cannot just arrest them, fine and jail them and after deport them back to their countries?And lest I forget you will have to punish any Ghanaian severely who is found aiding and abetting foreigners to break the laws of the country.Is stopping the galamsey illegal operations and saving our water bodies and environment something of a rocket science for our government and ministers to do?

It seems to me, we do not have a simple perfect solution to the galamsay saga in Ghana. The government of the land should not appeal to galamsay operators and chiefs to stop the menace. The solution is, government must apply the law with full force it deserves. This is simple. There is no other way in solving this galamsay issue other that applying the law. Let the law fearlessly bite the law breakers. This is simple and way to solve the problem.

The previous government legalized small scale mining. All the small scale mining are "alluvial miners" that is they operate in flood plains and in rivers. The government should withdraw license of all alluvial mining companies in Ghana, those who are doing dredging in rivers like river offin. Galamsey came to Ghana over 100 years ago but our rivers were not affected. Please the menace is small scale mining companies which has been legalized by the previous government. Chiefs, politicians owns the small scale mining companies and they are polluting our rivers. They use excavators and other heavy mining equipment's.
