Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. For at least the second time in public, the government has pushed back claims that $15billion cash expected from China amounts to borrowing.
This time around, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who negotiated the deal has used an analogy to make the point that the money is not a loan but a joint venture.
"If you have a 1,000 acres of land but you don't have money to buy a tractor.
"You can say to somebody 'I will use 50 acres of my 1,000 acres and you and I will go into joint production. You bring the tractor and the inputs, I bring the land'".
Ghana wants to give "less than 5%" of its bauxite reserves in exchange for the money.
The push-back from government comes after political rivals and critics say the government has been caught over-borrowing and adding to the national debt against its campaign rhetoric.
Borrowing is a political charged terminology in Ghana especially after the NPP then in opposition severely castigated the Mahama-led NDC government for borrowing.
There is intense attention on how the New Patriotic Party government will raise money to fulfil an ambitious list of campaign promises after tax payer funding was ruled out as terribly inadequate.
The Vice-President who is the head of the government's economic management team which negotiated the deal with China two weeks ago has dismissed fears Ghana's more than 120billion cedi debt is set to rise.
Addressing an Africa-China Joint Research and Exchange program, Bawumia said "somehow people think that we have gone for a Chinese loan...it is not a lending of money to Ghana"
He said this China deal is unlike the old borrowing pattern under previous governments.
This new deal, he said, is a "win-win" situation which government looks to replicate with other countries as a way of attracting investments.
Ghana has 960million metric tonnes of Bauxite reserves worth $460 billion, government has said.

You were booted out due to your perceived corruption and ineptitude in making a difference in the lives of the electorate after 8 years in office. You did not loose the election because Bawumia promised not to borrow? Ghanaians understand running a government is no different from managing a household . When the cash flow is challenged , and the needs like school fees, major health and funeral expenses and the house has to be built or repaired ,people resort to loans. In your situation people perceived you borrowed for perceived inflated cost infrastructure projects to line your pockets ( corruption ) and ignored projects that may directly impact the pockets of citizens ( ineptitude).
The NPP saw these weaknesses and tailored their message to get you out of office. You will not return to power with this silly argument that NPP promised not to borrow? All governments borrow! Monitor if NPP governance is able to execute its manifesto and if it has made an appreciable difference in people's lives by 2019 ? Then you can offer an alternative for the electorate to choose. What the minority in Parliament have been doing for the last seven months are a manifestation of immaturity and wrong headeness? You cannot win any national elections with belligerent negative dispositions. Offer an alternative. If you have none, then shut up. The electorate will sort out the lies and decide in 2020.

Only $1 billion was given to us for the construction of the Atuabo Gas Plant in the Western region.
Tell me one reason why NDC should support NPP to receive this $19 billion facility.
The difference is clear,NDC was honest to declare the facility as loan.
Why is Bawumia afraid to call a spade a spade?
As for me,it will be better to sell 5% of our bauxite deposit if that alone can fetch us $19 billion.I'm saying this because I don't see any logic of securing a loan and pay interest where you can sell the same product.By the way,so long as the Chinese are coming to mine the bauxite without any time limit,we could as well sell it outright.To me,all this noise about collateral,leverage,joint venture and what have you doesn't make sense.Honesty is the best Policy.Thank you.
