The Criminal Investigation Department [CID] of the Police Service says they will continue to peruse some allegations levelled against the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] after the embattled Chairman failed to appear before them on an invitation.

The PRO of the department, Deputy Superintendent of Police [DSP] Ms Juliana Obeng told NEAT FM’s evening political show 'Torch Light' that her superiors will use all legal means available to handle Chairman Ofosu-Ampofo’s issue.

According to the CID, suspects connected to the various kidnappings and fires are pointing fingers at Mr. Oofsu-Ampofo hence the invitation to him to appear on Thursday, May 9, 2019, to assist with investigations.

But, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo has declined the invitation, insisting the position of the CID is just to “shift the blame over the increasing inability of the security agencies” to ensure the safety of citizens.

Through his legal team, the NDC Chairman noted that – “Your invitation, its tone and insinuations, is simply an attempt to 'pass the buck', and shift the blame over the increasing inability of the security agencies, including your outfit, to manage and control the failures of security and the governance structures of the country as a whole. Looking for scape-goats would not improve the situation.”

DSP Ms Juliana Obeng told host Mac-Jerry Osei Agyeman that – the CID will not hesitate to seek a warrant for Ofosu- Ampofo’s arrest if he again declines their invitation.

“It’s possible we can use that to arrest him but I can’t confirm now. It’s part of many other legal options to use,” she said.
