Head of Communications at MultiChoice Ghana, Efua Kissi Nyame, has issued a strong warning to individuals and establishments planning to illegally broadcast FIFA World Cup matches, stressing that security agencies have been engaged to enforce sanctions against piracy.

Speaking during the launch of MultiChoice Ghana's World Cup campaign, Efua Kissi Nyame said the company has put measures in place to protect its broadcast rights and ensure that those involved in illegal transmissions are dealt with according to the law.

"There are sanctions. We have partnered with the right authorities to handle those who are going to be doing piracy. We are saying stay away from it. It's not allowed," she stated.

According to her, MultiChoice Ghana is working closely with various state institutions, including security agencies, to identify and clamp down on unauthorized broadcasters throughout the tournament.

"The right governmental agencies, like the police and the military, have partnered with us and they are going to clamp down on these people. We are discouraging people from doing any piracy," she added.

Efua Kissi Nyame noted that there is no justification for piracy, especially with the company's newly introduced World Cup package, which allows customers to access all 104 matches of the tournament at an affordable cost.

She urged football fans, viewing centres, and commercial establishments to obtain the appropriate subscriptions and licenses to avoid running afoul of the law during the global showpiece.
