Andre Ayew’s sublime strike at Crystal Palace on Saturday has been shortlisted for the English Premier League Goal of the Month of October.

The West Ham United attacker’s effort is among eight goals in contention for the accolade following an announcement on Friday.

At Selhurst Park, the Ghanaian intercepted a pass halfway, and on a solo run, turned Scott Dann inside out before hitting a rocket into the top left corner of the net from outside the box to put the Irons 2-0 up.

However, it eventually ended in disappointment for West Ham as Wilfried Zaha netted an equalizer in the last minute of injury time after Luka Milivojevic halved the deficit on 50 minutes.

The Ghanaian faces competition from the likes of Liverpool’s Phillippe Coutinho who netted an absolute beauty at Newcastle United.

Pedro’s goal for Chelsea against Watford is also in the running as is Sofiane Boufal's individual effort for Southampton against West Bromwich Albion.

Jamie Vardy's goal for Leicester City against Everton could also emerge winner while the Manchester City trio of Fernandinho, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are all in the race for goals in a 7-2 thumping of Stoke City.

To be decided by votes, the winner of the award will be announced on November 10.
