The 2018 World Cup reaches an interesting stage with the final round of the group matches set to begin today. As we have been doing since the tournament commenced, you can trust us to bring you live updates of all the games.

Host, Russia have been a revelation in this tournament, upsetting the odds by beating Saudi Arabi and Mo Salah’s Egypt resoundingly to pick all six points available.

Today, they come up against a nation that have not been outstanding but very efficient and effective with their plans – Uruguay.

Russia and Uruguay face-off to determine who will top Group A as both teams have already qualified with 6 points each.

Russia were the lowest ranked team ahead of the tournament and people did not give them a dog’s chance but their performances in their last two games, particularly against Egypt has led to people re-writing their notes about Putin’s boys.

Uruguay labored to pick all six points in their previous games and will have to put up an excellent display to overcome a Russian team riding high on confidence.

In the same group, is the dead-rubber game between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The two teams have already been kicked out and the match today is a battle for pride and a mere formality.

For Mohammed Salah, this is chance for him to make a case for himself as one of the world’s elite players.

Saudi impressed against Uruguay and if they turn up exactly as they did against the South Americans, Egypt could be in for trouble.

The two games will be played simultaneously at 2:00pm and we will be running updates of both games.
