AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari insists there is no reason why Ghana can’t ‘go all the way’ at the upcoming World Cup finals in Brazil. The Black Stars must first negotiate tough games against USA, Germany and Portugal in group G.

The Ghanaians can boast of top stars like Asamoah Gyan, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Andre Ayew and Michael Essien but failed to deliver the sport’s greatest prize in 2010 after crashing out at the quarter-final stage.

The AC Milan ace is looking forward to Kwesi Appiah’s youngsters to succeed where Ratomir Dujkovi and Milovan Rajevac failed.

“I’m always optimistic about Ghana when going into competitions. We are battle ready for the World Cup,” Muntari said.

“… But when you actually reach the competition, once you’ve qualified, everyone calms down and everyone starts looking forward to the competition that’s coming up. “I think you always go into competitions thinking you’re going to win it. It’s obviously very difficult because you come up against some of the best countries with some of the best players in the world.

“This is the biggest football competition in the world, with the best players in the world, but we’ll see. I hope we can go all the way.”

“The likes of Atsu, Waris, Jordan have come through the blocks lately and they have been fantastic additions.”

Muntari, who is one of the only two players to make a third appearance at the World Cup, is expected to play a key role for the Africans.
