'Parte after parte' – Ghanaians drool over Partey’s performance in Anfield miracle

Thomas Partey delivered another midfield masterclass as Atletico Madrid stunned Liverpool with 3-2 extra-time win at their much-touted Anfield ground.

It was a comeback of an exceptional level and an untypical capitulation by Europe’s reigning kings that saw Atletico Madrid go through to the quarter-final of the Champions League at the expense of the elected Premier League champions.

A 94-minute goal by Firmino looked to have settled matters until a Marcos Llorente strike gave them a dramatic end.

Llorente went ahead to add one and when Liverpool were high up the pitch looking for a winner, Alvaro Morata climaxed a dramatic night with a late extra-time goal that spelt Liverpool end in this season’s competition.

Just like the first leg, Partey was Atletico’s best outfield players and chalked some good stats in the game.

Partey made 69 touches, 30 accurate passes (68.2%) and winning two of three dribbles.

It was on the defensive front Partey really stood out, winning 11 of 16 total duels and making four clearances, four interceptions and five tackles.
