'Ghana is a sleeping giant' – Coach Zdravko Logarušić

Newly appointed coach Zdravko Logarušić for Nations FC has laid out an ambitious blueprint for his new club, insisting his ultimate goal is to help restore the team's Premier League status while representing Ghana proudly on the continental stage.

Speaking in his first official interview, Zdravko Logarušić described the club as a pioneering project, highlighting the uniqueness of its privately run structure in African football.

"It's not easy in Africa to have a private club that doesn't operate like a social society. It's a pioneer project, especially in football, and not many clubs have done it. Let's be part of history," he said.

The coach explained that rather than imposing a fixed football philosophy immediately, he would first study his players and build a system that suits their strengths.

Using a baking analogy, he said every successful team begins with understanding the available ingredients.

"First, we have to make proper observations to see what kind of ingredients we have to make the cake. Then we'll decide what kind of cake we're going to make "he added.

He stressed the importance of professionalism, urging players to treat football as a career capable of supporting their families.

"If they must put food on the table for their families, then they have to act professionally. Our job as coaches is to judge fairly, help them improve and produce results, "he stressed.

Zdravko Logarušić insisted his team would approach every match with maximum commitment while accepting defeat gracefully whenever opponents prove superior.

"We have to give everything after every game. We are here for results. If someone is better than us, we'll shake their hands and focus on the next game."

The coach made it clear that the club's immediate priority is to secure promotion back to the Ghana Premier League, while also setting sights on making a significant impact in African club competitions.

He lamented the struggles of Ghanaian clubs in recent CAF tournaments and believes his side can help change that narrative.

"For a long time, Ghanaian clubs haven't even reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. Ghana doesn't deserve that. Let's do it with a club that deserves to be in the Premier League."

Luga also praised Ghana's abundance of football talent, describing the country as a "sleeping giant" waiting to be awakened.

"Talent is everywhere in Ghana. Ghana is a sleeping giant. We just have to find a way to wake it up. Let's work together, support each other and build something special” he stated.

The coach acknowledged that success will require patience, but expressed confidence that with experience, proper planning and strong backing from the club's management, the project can achieve its lofty ambitions.
