We will not impose factories on districts in carrying out the one-district-one-factory policy. That’s according to the Regional Minister-designate for the Eastern region.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 election campaigns promised to establish a factory in every district across the country, as an avenue for creating employment for the many unemployed youth in the country.

Though many have doubted the feasibility of this policy, the minister-designate Eric Kwakye Darfour insists it is possible. He stated that factories will not be imposed on districts as each district has its own unique resources.

“The concept of one district one factory will depend largely on the feasibility studies that will be done based on the resource strength of the various districts.

I know a lot of opportunities abound and the districts themselves will be assisted to write their own business plans than imposing any factory on a particular district”, Eric Darfour emphasized.

The nominee revealed that some feasibility studies have already been done in some of the districts in the eastern region, for the factories to be established.

“Already I have been engaging some investors who want to come down and invest in tiger nuts.

The interest is there, the potential is there and we will work according to the business plan.

Businesses can rise and fall and we don’t want to do that”, he assured.
