Actor John Dumelo is of the opinion marking Ghana’s Independence Day is unnecessary because there is “nothing to celebrate.”
“Pupils lie on their stomachs to study in Yikurugu, UER, teachers teach IT with no computers all over the country etc. Yet we budget millions to celebrate 6th March?” reads part of the message posted by Dumelo on Twitter on the occasion of Ghana’s 61st Independence Day.
Ghana is 61 years today after gaining independence on 6th March 1957.
Independence Day parade was held across the country, while in the capital Accra, President Akufo-Addo received the national salute at the Black Star Square.
The celebrations is under the theme :”Ghana beyond Aid”
President Mahamudu Buhari gave a key note address at the event and it was also attended by many diplomats.
On 2nd thoughts there’s nothing to celebrate. Pupils lie on their stomachs to study in Yikurugu, UER, teachers teach IT with no computers all over the country etc. Yet we budget millions to celebrate 6th March? Ghana without aid starts with us getting our priorities straight.
