Popular Ghanaian comedian, Richard Asante, known to many Ghanaians by his stage name, Kalybos, has celebrated Ghana's independence along with fellow comedian, Kwaku Manu's birthday in patriotic style on social media.
Today being March 6th, 2018, the Ghanaian republic is celebrating 61 years of independence from its colonial powers, and many Ghanaians have taken the opportunity to express how they feel about their motherland.
But it appears that today is not just special due to it being Ghana's independence day, because it is also the celebrated comedian, Kwaku Manu's birthday.
Celebrating both occasions on social media, Kalybos shared a photo of himself and Kwaku Manu fully garbed in police uniforms giving a stern salute. "Happy Birthday to Mother Ghana and a BiG Happy Birthday to this wonderful awesome superstar @kwakumanubob. God Bless Us All," he wrote. As is the norm, Ghana marked its 61st "birthday" with a parade, along with public speeches by high profile figures, most notably Ghana's Head of State, President Nana Akufo-Addo, along with that, and Nigerian President, Mahammadu Buahri.
During his speech, President Buhari reaffirmed Nigeria's longstanding relationship with Ghana and pledged to help Ghana's President fight corruption, something President Akufo-Addo has vowed to do since his first days in office.
