National Chairman-elect of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Worsemawu Blay has resurrected suggestions by sections of the public that he has a strained relationship with his predecessor Paul Awentami Afoko.
Mr. Blay during an interview on Accra based Joy FM and monitored by MyNewsGh.com was emphatic about the fact that he was not friends with Mr. Afoko.
According to him, all former national executives of the NPP are open to attend party functions adding that occasionally he speaks to former General Secretary of the party,Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
Mr. Blay opined that unlike Mr. Kwabena Agyapong who sometimes turn up for party activities, Mr. Afoko has completely stayed away from same.
He was not happy about an empathetic statement made by Mr. Afoko in the lead up to the 2016 election during a media interview that he was not sure the NPP was going to win the election and was not sure to vote for it.
The NPP suspended its 2nd Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, alongside Mr. Agyapong in 2015, after they were accused of publicly rebelling against the party’s decision to indefinitely suspend its National Chairman, Paul Afoko.
At the 26th National Delegates Conference of the NPP held at the weekend in Koforidua, Peter Mac Manu who is a former National Chairman the party will welcome embattled former National Executives of the party should they decide to patronize any of the party’s events.
According to him, Former National Chairman Paul Afoko, former First Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe and former General Secretary of the party Kwabena Agyei Agyepong are welcome to join the party any time there is an activity.
