Everything about Akufo-Addo is not Bawumia, they're not Siamese twins - Atta Akyea

Former Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea has said Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot be blamed for decisions taken by President Akufo Addo.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Asaasepa Radio, monitored by GhanaWeb, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, said Dr. Bawumia can only go as far as offering advice to President Akufo-Addo on how the country, especially the economy should be run, adding that the final authority rests with the President.

"The NDC wishes that we had a vice president like Ackaah, who fought with then President Rawlings, but God did not allow that to happen. God has gifted Ghana with a very fine gentleman in the person of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Because he never fought with Akufo-Addo, everything about Akufo-Addo is Bawumia.

"Today, I want to state publicly that Akufo-Addo and Bawumia are not Siamese twins. They have their independent minds given to them by God. Even if they were Siamese twins, they can be separated."

Atta Akyea expressed confidence that Bawumia will be a far better president than the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Mahama.

"In a proper comparative analysis, I can tell you that Mr Digital [Bawumia], God knows he can help develop Ghana than Mr Dumsor [John Mahama]. You don't need a pastor to tell you that. Everything shows. He did some very good work as Vice President on how the economy should be run, but the final authority doesn't rest with with him, it rests with president Akufo Addo. Certain advice that Akufo-Addo didn't take, that is not how you want to pass a judgment on a man who was just helping. The Vice President is somebody who helps the President when he needs to be helped," Atta Akyea stated.
