I am qualified for every position – Wontumi

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he is competent to perform any task if called upon to do so by President Akufo-Addo.

He said though he possesses the necessary qualities to effectively discharge any obligation, he has resolved to stay within the party’s structures to help the government fulfil its electoral promises.

“I am qualified for every position in this administration, but I have decided not to take up any position for now. Some of us are going to monitor the appointees and put them on their toes,” Mr Antwi Boasiako, who is popularly referred to as Chairman Wontumi said.

Speaking on Okay FM in Accra, he added the party is determined to fulfil its electoral promises to help make life bearable for the citizenry.

Wontumi said the NPP administration would not condone acts of corruption by government appointees as it intends to reduce corruption to its barest minimum.

“We are not going to tolerate appointees using their positions to enrich themselves like what the NDC did.

“We all criticized the Mahama-administration for being corrupt and now that we have the opportunity, we are not going to allow people to take advantage of the system,” he warned.

Commenting on the attacks on government institutions by supporters of the NPP, he said the report has been tweaked to portray the NPP in the bad light, stressing the reports are fabricated.
